Sharon Virts was born and raised here in Loudoun County. She and her husband recently completed a major renovation of Selma Mansion that sits at the base of Catoctin Mountain. Sharon is also a published author of "Masque of Honor" a historical nonfiction book that chronicles the life of Armistead Mason. Armistead built Selma Mansion in 1810. He was a US Senator from Virginia at the age of 28 and was later killed in a duel with his cousin John Mason McCarty. This is a great book, filled with Loudoun history. A local non-profit with a mission to provide supportive and affordable residential services to women striving for a life free from dependency on alcohol, opioids, and other narcotics. Melissa speaks from the heart having gone through rehab herself as a young women and has also tragically lost her sister to the disease.

For me I remember Lt. Tom Waterbury on Memorial Day, as I have for the past 27 years since April 15, 1992.
Tom died off the coast of Pensacola, launching off the USS Forrestal.
