Paula Yakubik, Entrepreneur and Business Builder and Host of The Scrappy Entrepreneur Podcast

Guest Bio:
Paula comes from a family of aspiring and motivating entrepreneurs. From a young age, she was taught the power of hard work and was urged to go after any dream that she wanted. So, at the tender age of five, she started my first business and sold leaves door to door in her small farm community in Pennsylvania.

Her second business was also unique, but a bit more lucrative, in High School after moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. Known as Newsletters for Free, it was created for Homeowners Associations (HOAs). These informative newsletters were distributed to HOA members and she kept the revenues from ad sales.

At age 25, Paula started MassMedia, an integrated communications firm in a small, rented cubicle. As a scrappy entrepreneur, she built MassMedia from the ground up, serving small start-ups to large national Fortune 500 companies. While under her leadership, It grew into an amazingly successful enterprise with more than 45 employees and $10 million in annual earnings.

Success, for Paula, is all about maintaining the right attitude and determination, plus having the grit to never give up and achieve the results she wants.

Guest Name:
Whitney Craig
CPA, Director of Tax and Accounting at Polston Tax

Guest Bio:
Whitney Craig is an Oklahoma native, born in Ada and raised in Bixby. At the suggestion of her father who always tried to steer her towards the accounting field, Whitney began taking classes at the University of Oklahoma. Much to her surprise, she enjoyed it! Not only did she enjoy accounting work, she found that she had an undiscovered passion for numbers and found that in doing so she could help others navigate through the complications of tax and accounting. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business administration in Accounting, she went on to earn her MBA from the University of Central Oklahoma. Today, Whitney is a Certified Public Accountant and serves as the Director of Tax and Accounting at Polston Tax & Accounting.

Whitney began her work at Polston Tax & Accounting as an intern while completing her education. Even as an intern, she could tell that she was surrounded by people whose purpose in life was to serve others with their skills and knowledge in tax. Upon graduation she was hired as an accountant, and quickly moved up to become the Director of Tax and Accounting. The most rewarding thing about her position is helping deserving and hard-working business owners and self-employed individuals save money and stay compliant with the IRS and State. Each client’s situation is so different from the others and helping thousands of clients in different industries means her job is never boring!

Many people do not understand the tax implications and requirements to run a business – they are too busy making sure their clients are served and their employees are happy! Whitney’s work lets them do what they do best while she takes care of the rest. Her department allows them to focus on what matters to them most while she and her team are working tirelessly behind the scenes keeping them in compliance with the IRS and State and helping them avoid scary and stressful situations that can often arise from being neglectful with their taxes. She feels honored and blessed each day to have an amazing company supporting her and her team at Polston Tax & Accounting who have the same priorities and goals, and work hard every day to keep people out of tax trouble.
