Plotter Kill Preserve for the wife's birthday. Beautiful weather. I've never been to this place when the water is flowing. I bet it's a stunning place! We had to take it super slow because there were steep descents and the leaves were super slippery. The last time I was here was over 10 years ago and they had nothing but ropes to get to the lower creek 😬😬😬

Couldn't have asked for a better day to be out on the trails. Took Cathedral Glen up to Bellayre Mountain. The first mile or so of that trail is stunning. Offers a nice incline with massive pines that give it that 'cathedral' like feeling. After that, it gets odd. It mostly goes up an old ski run then suddenly gets routed differently from the trail conferences maps hits some super steep ski runs and the last 2/10ths of a mile is on a "marked" trail, but it feels more like a complete bushwack with trail markers randomly thrown on trees. I'm not mad. I don't mind any of those surprises 😂

Beautiful views from the top of the ski center with the temperatures being a tiny bit on the chilly side, reminding you to put extra layers on higher up. A perfect day for a reset.

Finally!

After waiting for the thick clouds to disappear and checking dark spots up the street, they finally showed up! We checked the sky at 8pm and nothing, so I set the alarm for 12:30am just in case. Poked my head out the window and could see a hint of red. Went outside and took pictures and saw this! Such a cool experience ❤️

I've got to admit, the pictures are long exposures, so they looked nothing like this to the naked eye. It was very faint, but you could still see something.

East Twin offers one of the best, if not THE best, view in the Catskills. Yesterday was a fantastic day to go out and enjoy not just the amazing colors of Fall, but the weather and most importantly, the presence of NO ONE at the summit 😂

I also got a chance to run into the Tawhaus trail crew who is completely rebuilding the lower half of the Jimmy Dolan notch trail. Amazing work and hope to have you guys on a future episode.

It feels like we will be beyond peak this weekend. The southern part of Devil's Path looks like it's past peak and a lot of leaves have already fallen. But... To the north of Devil's Path is just hitting peak and looks phenomenal. Let's hope the leaves stay up for some people to enjoy it this weekend.

Bog tour and sampling with the most legendary man of the Catskills!

Dr Kudish and I have tried to meet up so many times, but we are both either way too busy or the weather has sucked enough to cancel the trip. Today, we got to meet up and explore a local bog and get some samples for his research.

Big thanks to Tad for getting me in on this awesome adventure! It was good to meet up with Dr Kudish again! Gotta get him on the show again!
