How delicious!! 😋 After the craziness of last week and all of the power outages we are back at full power! And it's all about the food! Ice Cream Cake? YES. Chicken Noodle Soup? Of course! Abalone? Um....well I guess so?

Anyways today's show we are playing all songs that have some type of food in the title or something that can be consumed, like chocolate or even honey! Make sure you have already ate your dinner because you don't want to listen to this show on an empty stomach. 😆 What's your favorite Korean food? Mines dakgalbi! ❤️

What do you do first when there's a power outage....Well I grabbed my lightsticks and used them as a flashlight 😆. Hopefully everyone is getting through this weekend okay if you still don't have power! Wow that storm was crazy.

Since I live in Geauga County, a lot of the roads here are still closed and I still don't have power.... That means no computer and that means I couldn't get the show ready for this Saturday. Sorry guys! The food show will be next week and Matt will be live on air tonight to play you a variety show. I like those once in a while. A grab bag, something to dance to, or even something to take your mind off not having Internet 😅.

I will be attending the Ateez show on Sunday in Chicago so I won't be on air tonight. Hopefully everyone going to the concert tonight or tomorrow has a wonderful time (or if you went to any of their previous stops!). And of course don't forget your lightsticks! Tune in tonight at 7PM! A unique thing about kpop is all of the advertisement songs that exist! There's some excellent collabs and classic songs that really don't get that much love since they are basically ads. Let's put a spotlight on these interesting songs for the first time on the show! 🔥 The first song is the Cabi song (such a classic and my favorite ad song!) New music show for June! With Matt away today I knew we needed additional commentary so Nat and Melissa, both long time kpop fans, are joining me today to present some fantastic songs from June. My birthday show is tonight and my dad is on the airwaves to play some Japanese Jazz music! We are going on a deep dive into some amazing sounds tonight so come celebrate with me. 🎂✨ We won't be talking that much but make sure to listen at the end for a special section of Japanese jazz in anime. ❤️

Tonight's theme is one that we've never done before! Many times in kpop you see someone familiar when a new group debuts, you're like "oh wait, wasn't this person in that other group?" So in celebration of some of the people who have 'group hopped' (meaning debuted multiple different times in their career), we are playing songs from some of these individuals! For an example Taemin from SHINee has also had a solo debut and was with SuperM, Younique Unit, and SM The Performance. So many groups...

This isn't like the show we did previously highlighting groups from project shows like Wanna One or IZ*ONE although people from groups like those might show up on the show today! So tune in tonight at 7PM!

Come to the Cleveland Asian Festival today and tomorrow 11-7pm and stop by our booth! We will have some fun things to do like decorating kpop photocards. Tonight's show continues the party atmosphere with some fun songs that'll make you get up and move!💃 Perfect to listen to as you're driving home from the festival today. And don't forget to check out the kpop dance competition at 5. (Yes we have IU 😆)

Hmm what's this? Kpop artists and....western artists together on the same song? 🤔 Today's theme is all about those awesome or sometimes really weird collabs between your favorite kpop artists and someone who you never expected! And yes Snoop Dogg shows up a lot. 😆 This is different than a full English show since some of the words are in Korean but most of the show is in English! Tune in tonight at 7pm!

For the past 4 and a half years we have had a third DJ here at A Sprinkle of Seoul, my wonderful cat Yugyeom. He's been helping every Saturday to put together the playlists by keeping my lap warm while I am frantically try and put the show together. Sadly he passed away in the afternoon this past Sunday. He was an absolutely amazing cat and a wonderful friend. Today's show is going to be dedicated to him. ❤️ It's going to be a mix of kpop songs I really enjoy and haven't heard in a while. Hmmm what do these two groups have in common? 🧐 One thing is their crazy companies 👀, but ultimately it's because they both became inactive as groups before their time. Opinions galore in this show tonight so watch out ☕. This is basically a show about groups that have become inactive for an extended period of time or have disbanded after a short time together. New music today! Wow February went by so fast!! I feel like I'm gonna blink and then it'll be May. 😅 There were a TON of new songs that were released in the past few weeks and oh boy unfortunately I can't play them all. And it's especially true today! We will only be on air from 7:00 PM to 8:10 PM tonight to make way for the JCU sports broadcast. That's about 10 songs less than we usually play. BUT we will still be live and would love to have you tune in at 7 to enjoy the hour or so we will be on air. 💕 See everyone at 7PM!!

Oh wow I had time to make another one of these! So excited to be done with school so I can have more free time to create more fun things for A Sprinkle of Seoul! Speaking of fun things.... Valentines Day! It was on Wednesday but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate! We have love-ly songs for everyone, don't have a significant other? Just got broken up with? Don't worry about it we have songs for you. Its going to be an interesting show tonight with our last live show for Radiothon.

Radiothon is the only time of year where we ask for donations for WJCU to keep the station running. The college pays for our staff and then everything else, licensing, maintenance, etc are funded by donations by amazing people like you who listen and love the music we play on the radio. This is the first new music show of 2024! ...And my goodness was there a lot of songs to go through. 😅 It is going to be a Matt solo show tonight since I am still in Boston so send him some good vibes! This year I really want to get back into the original spirit of the new music show, which was to focus on kpop but then also showcase a few good songs from around Asia. Sadly for the kpop lovers in the room that means less time to play standard pop but that also means more variety which I love ❤️ and I hope you'll love it too! Happy Holidays!! Thank you everyone for turning in this year and supporting us through Radiothon or our ticket giveaways. To everyone who found us this year, welcome! 🥰 And of course a big thank you for everyone else who has stuck with us through the years. 2023 was a wild ride and next year I will be finishing my bachelor's degree so I'll have more time to plan out bigger and better shows! I'm so excited. Stick around we have some fun things planned for next year! It'll be our 7th anniversary on air!!!

This is it!! Thank you everyone who entered in your lists for our show tonight, this literally would not have happened without you! We received 28 entries into our google form and I have ranked out all of the songs (a total of 179 different songs)! K-pop in 2023 was very interesting and this list is certainly both very predictable and very surprising at the same time, at least to me. There will be some time taken for honorable mentions so be too sad your favorite song didn't make it in. Set your radio to 88.7 FM at 7PM or download our free app, you don't want to miss this one!

How it worked: Once a list was entered I gave the song that was in the 1st spot 25 points, the 2nd 24 points, etc. all the way down to the 25th ranked song with 1 point. Next year I hope to try and weight the scores but I unfortunately didn't have the time this year. Once every list was ranked I added up the scores for each song and that is how they are currently ranked. The song in 25th place had 60 points and the number 1 song received 211 points!!

It's that time of year again! Top songs of 2023!! We are bringing the listener's top 25 list back again after I really enjoyed doing it last year. For those of you who didn't participate in 2022 now is your chance to tell me all of your favorite 2023 kpop songs!
