The Saginaw Valley State University dance team recently competed in the Dance Team Union 2023 College Classic competition, ranking first place in Jazz, second place in Hip Hop, and fourth place in their team performance.

Saginaw Valley State University’s (SVSU) Registered Student Organization (RSO) the Climate Stick Club will be hosting climate change advocates for a lecture followed by a fireside chat to spread awareness about climate change.

As part of its mission, the Climate Stick Club spreads awareness about the dangers of burning fossil fuels and the subsequent release of CO2 into the atmosphere. They do this through education and advocacy.

Carlos Ramet, Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Behavioral Sciences, and a professor of English/Creative Writing at SVSU, offers insight into the strength and significance of Roethke’s writing.

“Roethke’s strength lies in a sense of particular settings and in describing the impact those settings have on the individual,” Ramet stated. “He was a poet from Saginaw who returned often to this region. His poems, while evocative and localized, earned him a national and international reputation.”

On Mar. 2, a commuter student at SVSU reported to police that their catalytic converter and O2 sensor were stolen while their vehicle was parked in parking lot J2 on Mar. 1 between 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. The victim suspects the incident may have occurred at their apartment complex in Saginaw Township.
