HAPPY KANSAS DAY!

Good morning all! First I would like to recognize the 3 awards our Chapter received. Luminary Challenge Shimmer, 100% participation in the President General’s project, and Chapter Achievement Award (level2)

Second, our chapter will be having our DAR Service project on Saturday, October 30th at 1:00 p.m. We will be cleaning the gravesites of Veterans at the Ulysses Cemetery, hope many of you can make it that day.

Thirdly, we had some sad news that Hazel Evans had a stroke, but she is doing better and in a rehab facility in Lawrence, Ks. You can send her cards at this address:

Our first meeting for September will be on the 11th, 1:00 pm at the historic Adobe museum in Ulysses, Kansas.

We would like to welcome three new members, sisters Hazel Evans, Ethel Evans, and Tanja Evans Harrison.

The program is entitled “Constitution Week Fascinating Facts” and the presenter is Catherine Fowler.

Our Chapter was to check the Grant County DAR markers that mark the Santa Fe Trail. Photos and documentation will be sent to National DAR headquarters. Updated directions, GPS coordinates set, and photos were taken.

Traveled to Dodge City to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail and the rededication of wet/dry route DAR marker #64.

Byrd Prewitt Regent Nina Sipes passed away Friday, December 11th. Her cheerfulness and positive attitude will be sorely missed.

On Dec. 10th, 2020 Terri May drove to Dodge City to the Fort Dodge Veterans Home and delivered a check for $700.00, $100.00 in McDonald’s gift cards, and other items from the Byrd Prewitt Chapter NSDAR.

Thanks for the help from administration for allowing us to deliver and taking a photo.

Our genealogy workshop, on November 7th, was a success.

We had two special guests present:
Susan Metzger, our Kansas State Regent and Virginia McNitt, our SW District Representative.

During the workshop, Sherri Reynolds was voted in as an associate member.
