Join JCM’s Dr. Elliot Panek at the Sidewalk Film Center in Birmingham on Sunday January 25th for a special screening of The Social Network (2010), which explores Zuckerberg’s early career. As part of the Science on Screen series, Dr. Panek will lead a post-screening discussion on the science of social media effects!

*AWARD ALERT* C&IS doctoral student and JCM Professor Dr. Shaheen Kanthawala won a top part award at the National Communication Association. Their paper entitled “Douyin is taming us”: Visibility, governance, and feminist discourses on Douyin, won the top paper in the Feminist and Gender Studies Division.

C&IS PhD student and JCM graduate assistant, Lilian Onianwa, received the Top Research-In-Progress Paper award for her work titled: Temporal Dissociation and Digital Flow: A Multivariate Model of Cognitive and Affective Predictors of User Engagement Intensity on TikTok. This was part of the BEA On-Location conference in Denver.

Do you even concert bro? Yeah we do! But here in JCM, we get ready for the concrete by learning the new cameras we will use while we record the show live in venue at the Mercedes Benz Amphitheater. Oh yeah, and we will get college credit while we do it.
