Tiger is a brown tabby with white who came into StreetCats 8/22/2024 along with his sister Roxie. Estimated birthdate is 4/17/2022. Their previous mom didn’t think they were bonded even though they enjoyed playing together. They are hanging out together in StreetCats in a cat tree. Both cats were rescued as kittens from under a car in August 2022 and have lived inside with someone since then, but she is moving and could not take them with her. Tiger is friendly and outgoing once he adjusts to his new environment and he loves to play.

Meet Sassy, available for adoption at StreetCats, Inc.

Sassy is a Blue Van (very soft fur) with an estimated birthdate of 1/1/2022. She is Buttercup’s sister; however, since they came in at different times, they are not associating with each other. These siblings were kept inside after being born, but there were too many kitties in the home. So she needs a home of her own. She just came into StreetCats on 8/22/24, so she’s hanging out in a hidey hole. But she loves to be petted and lets you shower her with love. She gets along great with other cats, and she’s OK with dogs if they are not too rowdy.

Meet Blueberry, a young brown and white tabby with a white tip on his tail. His estimated birthdate is 12/16/2023, and he is an active, friendly love bug. He likes to snuggle on people’s shoulders and can be a lap cat or carried around. He has lived with other cats outside, but it’s unknown if he’s been around children or dogs. He is an explorer, and he’ll be all over a home of his own.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Louisa McCune, a cherished friend, longtime supporter and contributing writer for TulsaPets and OKC Pets Magazine.

Louisa McCune was a prominent advocate for animal welfare in Oklahoma, making significant contributions as the executive director of the Kirkpatrick Foundation, where she led initiatives like the Safe & Humane campaign to improve the lives of animals statewide. She also played a key role in organizing the Oklahoma Animal Conference, which brought together experts and advocates to advance humane treatment practices. Additionally, Louisa was instrumental in supporting local shelters and rescue organizations, helping to increase awareness and resources for animal welfare efforts across the state.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Louisa’s legacy will live on in the continued work of protecting and caring for our animal companions.

Raenalle DeGidio & Johnny Beard with Oklahoma Alliance for Animals

“I began volunteering for Oklahoma Alliance for Animals in the spring of 2018,” Raenalle says. “I had been aware of OAA for years through social media as well as some of their local events where I had an opportunity to observe their good work. I always wanted to get involved in outreach to needy animals in our community. After retiring from Saint Francis Hospital, I was in a position to offer my time to fulfill this aspiration. Johnny Beard and I have been companions in this work all along as working in pairs is recommended and more enjoyable.

“There are so many things I love about this organization. They’re remarkably effective and have the resources needed for successful community outreach. Whether it’s sponsoring multiple events throughout the year, delivering resources and offering education to needy owners for their animals, or addressing the plight of chained, neglected and abandoned animals throughout the area, OAA is on the front line of intervention.

“I also love the camaraderie among the volunteers. We work like a dedicated team on a mission, which is what we are. It’s inspiring and rewarding to know you’re doing a part to improve the lives of so many animals that depend on us for help.

“I would like to encourage those who have a heart for animals, particularly retirees, to get involved as there are multiple ways to make a difference. That’s what volunteering is all about.”

Are pests bugging your pet?

External parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites are common in pets and can cause serious skin issues and diseases. Effective management includes using preventives, treating infestations promptly and regularly checking pets for parasites.

Remember to consult your veterinarian for proper treatment and product recommendations. If one pet is infested, assess all pets in the household, as parasites can spread. Follow directions carefully, particularly with products for cats, to ensure safety.
