The second ever hole-in-one on the par-4 third hole at Cedar Ridge Country Club was recorded last week by first-year University of Tulsa women's golf coach Mike Rooters. Playing with TU golfers Jenni Roller and Lovisa Gunnar and doing an experiment to try to shoot 67 or better from the front tees, Rooters used a 4-iron to make his hole in one. The sharp dogleg left hole was aced from the back tees on Aug. 29 from LIV golfer Eugenio Chacarra.

Of local note, players earning guaranteed Korn Ferry Tour status for 2025 were former Sooner Grant Hirschman and former Cowboys Rayhan Thomas and Jonas Baumgartner as well as former Southeastern Oklahoma State golfer Zach James. Earning conditional KFT status were former Sooner Blaine Hale Jr., Rhein Gibson of Edmond and Oklahoma Christian, Brendon Jelley of OSU and Jenks and former OSU golfers Kevin Dougherty and Aman Gupta.

Final stage of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying for 2025 began today with five PGA Tour cards also at stake. Players with Oklahoma ties competing include Grant Hirschman, Blaine Hale Jr., Brendon Jelley, Aman Gupta, Kevin Dougherty, Rhein Gibson, Jonas Baumgartner, Rayhan Thomas and Zack James.

Tracy Phillips of Tulsa made another run at one of five spots available in the final stage of PGA Tour Champions qualifying and had an outside shot with six holes to play, but a bogey on 13 and a triple on 14 in the final round dropped him into a tie for 19th. Tracy said he pulled the wrong club on 14 and hit his approach shot long into the desert. Still a great effort and his third-round 6-birdie, no-bogey 65 gave him a chance. Tag Ridings and Bo Van Pelt also competed but should both have some playing privileges from their PGA Tour careers.
