1. Lifting weights
2. Walking

Doing both are your insurance plan to living a long quality life as you age.

Lifting weights helps you stay functional

If you’re frustrated with your progress..if you feel like things aren’t moving quickly enough..if you feel like you’re stuck & you should be seeing better results..welcome to the club.

This stuff is hard.

Mentally more than physically. It’s a mind game. Some days you’ll feel like the baddest, strongest, most motivated Unicorn there ever was.

Other days you’ll feel like a drained, hopeless, unmotivated sack of muggles.

Some days you’ll look in the mirror and see so much ab definition your abs will have abs.

Other days you’ll look in the mirror and see a bloated rhino.

Some days you’ll go to the gym and hit a 20lb personal record.

Other days you’ll go to the gym and you won’t be able to lift what you could 6 months ago.

Some days you’ll be so motivated, Karen could slide a hot plate of waffle fries right under your nose and you wouldn’t be tempted.

Other days you’ll have all the right food and all the best conditions but go full on mountain troll on a box of Cheeze Its and 12 sleeves of Oreos.

That’s life.

Part of the process. We all go through it. All of us. Coaches, too. Myself included.

The key isn’t to find motivation or the best workout or the best diet or the best supplements.

The key is to chill the f**k out, stop expecting perfection, stop expecting linear progress, & get used to the process being an unpredictable mess.

If you can do that. And be consistent. You’ll find the magic in the mess...and you will succeed. I promise. Because as long as you don’t quit your success is inevitable. I guarantee it.

Also.

This fitness thing?

It’s supposed to be fun.

It’s supposed to make you happy and smile and confident and proud. It’s not a competition. There is no day or time or hour at which you need to arrive to achieve your goals. There is no rush. You’re playing the long game here. It’s for life - not 7 or 21 or 30 days.

This is forever.

Life is short. Don’t let something you love to turn into an enemy. Embrace it. Enjoy it. Live in the moment and do what you love...not because others say you “should,” but because you love it with all your heart.
