We are not free until all of us are free. We wouldn't be where we are today without the inventions, minds, and power of black people. Here are some Oklahoma black led organizations that you can support, learn from, and learn about.
Black Q***r Tulsa- a community for BIPOC q***r and trans folk in the heart of Tulsa. Their mission is safety, awareness, inclusion, and community.
The Black Wall Street Times- "Access is the New Civil Right" is their slogan, and their mission is to build a more informed, equitable future in news by amplying black and marginalized voices.
Blackspace Oklahoma- their initiatives range from helping to save Black landmarks to pop-up movies. They build black power and black joy through their programs and projects. Centering black culture is one of their goals as well.
Oklahoma City Black Chamber of Commerce- they empower Black and minority-owned businesses and economic interests across central Oklahoma by sharing resources, building relationships, and advocating for equal opportunity and equitable outcomes.
Fulton Street- a coffee shop and a bookstore combined! They are on a mission to increase intergenerational literacy and build better community. They center the stories, narratives and lived experiences of people of color and marginalized communities.
Greenwood Cultural Center- Their mission is to preserve and promote the proud history and future of the African Amnerican community and the historic Greenwood District. They aim to tell the whole truth about the 1912 Race Massacre and Black Wall Street in general.
