Veneer repair is a skill I’ve been honing over the past year, and with wood finishes trending, it’s definitely one worth mastering! 🌿🔨 Here’s my go-to process for seamless repairs:🔹 Fill missing areas with wood epoxy & sand smooth.🔹 Blend using a wax kit or Mohawk fill stick.🔹 Stain with gel stain or regular stain. (I was just toning this piece so I used gel stain).🔹 Layer & Paint using Mohawk Blendal Sticks, sealing with EZ Vinyl Sealer between layers to recreate the wood grain.🔹 Final Touch-ups with spray toner, gel stain, or additional layers as needed.🔹 Seal your repair for a lasting finish! This piece sold for $1200 with these repairs and a toning using gel stain and then resealing. I’ve tried a basic leg build with straight cuts, but I saw @flippedbyabby’s tutorial on an angled base and thought I’d give it a try! These types of dressers are great to try this technique on. I used 2x2 for the legs and 1x3 for the apron. Here are my steps:1. I’m starting with the legs. I cut a 10 degree angle.2. I want a slight taper on the inside edge, so I just eyeball an angle and draw a line on my miter saw. 3. I flipped the leg upside down to cut the inside taper. The miter saw was at 0 degrees for this cut and I just lined up my legs with the line I drew and made the cut. 4. Then I determined the height of the legs and cut it at 1 degrees too. 5. For the other leg you use the same procedure. 6. For the apron, I determined my length and cut each end to 10 degrees. You can either move your miter saw for the opposite side or flip your piece of wood over. Angles can be tricky. 😅Stay tuned for Part 2!

This cutie got a full body makeover. 😅Seriously though, top to bottom! Here are my steps:1. Stripped the paint with @greenez_ followed by my carbide scraper, acetone and #00 steel wool.2. Sanded through the grits. I start with 80 on any areas with remaining finish and then move on to 120 and 180.3. I used @generalfinishes hard wax oil for the first time. I mixed 10:1 clear to brown. It was a lovely tone. 4. The original top was laminate, so added wood veneer. After two attempts 🥴 I finally got it. Cool temps are not my friend. 😯What do you think? I’ve never gold leafed before, but this won’t be my last time. The luminous shine of gold leaf cannot be replicated in a spray paint or wax. 🤩Here are my steps:1. In traditional gold leaf, the substrate is either painted red or yellow. I choose a muddy red. 2. Apply the gold leaf adhesive. The brand I used goes on with a blue tint and dries clear. 3. After about 20 minutes the adhesive should be tacky and ready to apply the gold leaf. 4. I purchase the packets of gold leaf. When I placed the leaf on the side, some of the pieces tore instead of going on flat. I think I will try loose leaf next time. 5. I used a soft brush to burnish the gold leaf and remove excess leaf. 6. Lastly, I sealed it with two coats of gold leaf sealant. What do you think? Have you tried gold leaf? #GoldLeafArt#ArtisanCrafts#HandcraftedBeauty#GildedCreations#ArtTechniques
