The world suffered a huge loss today. Rest in Pictures to Gene Hackman at 95 years old. He was found dead with his wife and one of their dogs in his New Mexico home. Hackman was nominated for his first of 5 Academy Awards in 1967, winning two (for Unforgiven and The French Connection). He is one of the best actors we've ever had working 79 films from Bonnie and Clyde and Young Frankenstein to previous episode The Quick and the Dead and Royal Tennenbaums until retiring in 2004 after Welcome to Mooseport.
He started acting when running with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Duvall, "There was a kind of feeling of Jack Kerouac at that time — ‘On the Road’ — kids just wanting to have a good time and kind of experience things. It didn’t have anything to do with being successful — just wanting to try this thing and see if it worked"

Rest in Picture Michelle Trachtenberg. It's a weird one for me (Derrick) because I grew up watching her in Harriet the Spy, Eurotrip and later on Buffy. We're the same age, then she disappeared. I'm sure it can be traced back to the nightmare that it turns out Nickelodeon was.

The final Made in Arizona month selection is one of Derrick's weird-ass obscure picks, Paul Clinco's shot-on-video satanic panic flick DEATH MAGIC! Find the episode anywhere you get podcasts and badmoviesworsepeople.com. A Civil War general is put to death for being a genocidal maniac and is resurrected by a satanic cult in Tucson, Arizona. He quickly sets out to murder the descendants of those responsible for his death. This movie looks like crap and has terrible acting, but it's full of great, bloody special effects and a lot of community theater b***s. We tried to shoot a video for you guys, but someone in the neighborhood crashed into a transformer and took out the power and internet, so it didn't happen this time around.

The movie isn't available streaming anywhere, but the blu-ray was released by Culture Shock Releasing and is still available at https://www.cultureshockreleasing.com/product-page/death-magic-blu-ray-slipcover-editionhttps://www.cultureshockreleasing.com/product-page/death-magic-blu-ray-slipcover-edition

Our newest Patreon-exclusive monthly show, Latchkey Vids, marches on as we dive into COP ROCK's third episode HAPPY MUDDER'S DAY! Available on our Patreon through the link in our bio with a $3 subscription that also gets you a monthly Mental Health episode, exclusive videos, a newsletter and more! Gaines and Rose find themselves in deep on a domestic violence call, La Russo uses his girlfriend as bait to catch a drug dealer, Potts struggles with his morals as the Captain and Oz pressure him to flip on his partner and the Mayor has to deal with the public thinking she's "ugly enough to stop a train!" We get some great musical numbers including a soulful domestic violence song and an 80s pop song about plastic surgery. Bigger is better when it's underneath your sweater, indeed.

Made in Arizona month continues with the 80's teen comedy, CAN'T BUY ME LOVE, starring Patrick Dempsey and Amanda Peterson (Rest in Pictures). Get a video version on our YouTube page and badmoviesworsepeople.com, or get it ad-free on our Patreon at patreon.com/worsepeople. This classic 80s teen romp was filmed entirely in Tucson and actually takes place there as well. Nerdy ass Patrick Dempsey offers the head cheerleader $1000 to pretend to like him so he can be cool, and, in classic 80s fashion, she falls for him, but he's too self-absorbed to even notice. He starts to blow off his old friends, including Children of the Corn's Malachai, turning into a real s**theel, and, of course, hilarity ensues. This is a nostalgic classic for Jack and Whitney but a first-time watch for Derrick. You s**t on my house!

This month's Patreon-exclusive Mental Health episode, available at patreon.com/worsepeople, is a listener request from one of our longest Patrons, Tanker Tom! We're watching Simon Wincer's HARLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO MAN, starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson! It might be a slightly apocalyptic future and Mikey Rourke and Don Johnson are a couple of cool, motorcycle-riding customers navigating their way through a mad world of corporate greed, semi-indestructible goons and massive shootouts. Featuring show favorite character actor Sven Ole Thorson and one of the lesser Baldwins, Daniel, as well as Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito and a sleepy Tom Sizemore. Get the full episode on our Patreon page for only $3 a month!

We kick it off this week with 1990's FIRE BIRDS starring the great Nicolas Cage, Tommy Lee Jones and Sean Young! This will be our first-ever video episode for the main feed of Bad Movies Worse People! The video is available on our YouTube page and badmoviesworsepeople.com, as well as an ad-free version on our Patreon. Find the audio version anywhere you get podcasts! Our final 1989 flick of the month is DEEPSTAR SIX, directed by Friday the 13th's Sean S Cunningham and starring.... no one you've ever heard of. Produced quickly and on a small budget to beat the other two films to the box office, this one is very similar to Leviathan, but without any of the special effects talent or acting chops. This time, we have a team of Navy members trying to install underwater missiles that find themselves in a mystery involving a lost Russian ship and running afoul of a massive creature. Get it anywhere you find podcasts and badmoviesworsepeople.com!
For more Bad Movies Worse People content, check out our Patreon at patreon.com/worsepeople where you get TWO bonus episodes every month for only $3! Hey there! We recently had to change hosting services and apparently that means we lost all of our reviews, so if you guys could rate and review the show to help increase our profile, it would be really appreciated. We've been working hard to produce over 120 episodes in the past 2 years and it sucks that the love we were shown has been erased from history.

Our DROWNuary Mental Health episode is out now on James Cameron's incredibly troubled masterpiece, THE ABYSS, from 1989! This was one of three water-based sci-fi action flicks to come out in 1989 and our favorite movie of the month. Starring Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Michael Biehn, this film follows a team of underwater oil drillers and Marines as they try to recover a nuclear submarine that is suspected to have been taken out by Russians. Spoiler alert... we have more underwater aliens to deal with, but this time in a James Cameron fashion, which means epically.
Get the episode, along with ALL of our other Patreon-exclusive content, for only $3 a month at patreon.com/worsepeople

One of three 1989 underwater sci-fi action flicks this month is LEVIATHAN is directed by George P Cosmatos. It stars Peter Weller, Ernie Hudson, Daniel Stern and Hector Elizondo. A team of underwater miners (very different from underwater oil drillers of The Abyss) encounter a bizarre creature in the depths of the ocean that shouldn't exist, but it does and they have a battle on their hands! Find it anywhere you get podcasts and badmoviesworsepeople.com!
Remember to check out our Patreon at patreon.com/worsepeople where you get our monthly Mental Health episode (this month is The Abyss) and an episode of Latchkey Vids, where we discuss forgotten 90s TV shows. Currently we are covering 1990's COP ROCK!

Really sad news today, the world has lost one of its greatest filmmakers, David Lynch, at 78. His family said it best:
"There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us but, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' … It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."
Rest in Pictures, you glorious madman.
