Photographer Eric Meola, some 47 years ago, captured the image of Bruce Springsteen & Clarence Clemons that became the ‘Born to Run’ album cover — “a talisman of freedom for my generation.” He revisited it today.
Eric writes: “Two guys stood on opposite sides of an album cover, one of them black, the other one white, and became a talisman of freedom for my generation. The image of them leaning on each other has undergone dozens of transformations, so this time I thought if anyone should merge it with the flag and the soul of the Ukrainian people, it should be me.
“Nearly fifty years along the journey that started with the opening notes of ‘Thunder Road,’ I’m still in that place of hope and redemption, where innocence gets left behind. Each night our hearts are with the Ukrainian people, so I send this photograph out to the country I know so little about, the country that has inspired us all. We are with you.”
