Quick update: I HAVE MADE IT TO QINGDAO, China, and I have reunited with my parents over here!!! It was a LONG, LONG flight from JFK to Japan, and then Japan to China (I will post some Japan photos another day).

Here is a gentle reminder I will be covering ICAST2024 with Eurotackle via INSTAGRAM STORIES on my IG account.

ICAST begins TOMORROW at 9 a.m. EST. I will be making stories on NEW FISHING PRODUCTS for 2024-2025, giving you previews on EXCITING NEW EUROTACKLE PRODUCTS, and showing you the different brands and different booths on the floor.

Additionally, I will be meeting with fellow YouTubers as well, such as FISH HAWK, FIRST STATE FISHING, Rawr fishing , etc.

A quick update for you all —

(1) I just came back from São Paulo, Brazil, earlier this week. I spent a whole 12 days down there with my nephew Kurt, ON VACATION, visiting iconic destinations in SP and RJ (including the Sugarloaf, Christ the Redeemer, etc.). Today I am leaving for CT to get together with Ben (Eurotackle), so that we can head down to Orlando, Florida, for ICAST 2024.

(2) Due to the busy nature of my schedule, I have yet to pick TWO EPF GIFT CONTENDERS for the last post here on FB. I have NOT FORGOTTEN about that, folks. Please stay tuned: I will eventually make two shoutout posts here in the near future.

(3) After my trip to ICAST 2024, I will be leaving for ASIA around the end of the month. I will be there for a WHOLE MONTH visiting family, and LIFELISTING. This will be my first time ever Lifelisting in CHINA, where my parents and grandparents grew up. I am very excited about it, and hopefully I will be shooting some YouTube videos for you all while I am there.

(4) I will attempt to bring the AUSTIN, TEXAS LIFELISTING series of 5 episodes starting the 24th of this month. I make no promises, though, as my schedule is going to be hectic. Stay tuned for more updates on that!!!

EPF Event: What is the RAREST SPECIES OF FISH that you have ever caught?! Here is my story of the day:

One of my rarest catches ever was the "Brycon nattereri." I caught this Lifer in the city of Guapé, Minas Gerais, in Brazil, earlier this year. It was my 536th Lifer.

This fish is special because it is an endangered species of fish in Brazil with a very limited range in the southeaster portion of the country. It prefers the cold currents of mountainous streams, which is why a lot of people usually refer to it as "the Trout of Brazil." Needless to say, this fish lived up to its reputation: it fought awesomely, with a lot of aerial action.

Here is a shoutout to my friend and fellow Lifelister Felipe Santos (IG: Felipe_santos_fishing), who I had the honor of sharing this experience with, since we explored that fishing spot together. As a matter of fact, both of us ended up catching our Lifer Brycon nattereri that day — all on in-line spinners.

What do you folks think about the "rise" of the LIVESCOPE technology when it comes to our sport of fishing?

Though, on a side note...

Regardless of your opinion on this topic, one thing is for sure: all this new technology is resulting in BIG IMPACTS when it comes to certain fish populations in certain parts of our country — especially the CRAPPIE POPULATIONS out there.

Apparently, the damage is so serious in closed bodies of water (i.e., Lakes, Ponds, Reservoirs, etc.) that Mississippi is the first state to actually LOWER fish limits to save their trophy Crappie from being depleted. The way I see it...?! We are not too far off from other states joining on this "movement" and creating stricter rules and regulations with slot limits for different species of fish out there.

What do you think about this entire situation...? Do you agree, or disagree with it? And why? Voice your opinion and let us know!!!

This past fall she joined me on black friday and altho it was tough and she was learning the boat techniques she was waiting till she hit bottom when a striper came off bottom hit her swim bait as it sank and gave her a nice pull she was able to get this fish in all by her self no help from anyone"

The sense of accomplishment is second to none. That smile on her face says it all.

Summarizing... I am very happy to hear that she landed that fish on her own, my brother. I hope that she catches many other ones throughout her life.

"This pike was a proud moment for myself. My grandpa, who was my life long fishing buddy had passed away four months earlier, and since then I had not caught a single fish. On the way to this spot I was saying something to the extent of 'if you're looking on from up there I could use some help today.' And within 30 minutes I had this fish on a white bass fluke.

On a side note, I didn't have my scale and really wished I could have weighed it because when compared to a picture of the Indiana state record pike, it's darn close."

Here is my story of the day:

I have never been confident using big Pencil Poppers in the salt because I never caught a big fish on them. I have fished multiple different JUICY SPOTS in New Jersey — both day and night, all while selecting the best moon phases and tides. Even so, nothing every happened. Lol. But you know... even with my confidence that low, I still carried a single pink Pencil Popper with me every time I went out for some Striper action.

Then, a few years ago, my friend Dave Ho (a.k.a. IG: Symplexfishing) invited me to go to the Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts to catch some GIANTS. I remember arriving in the canal on a FOGGY MORNING — so foggy that I couldn't even see the bridge that was right in front of me. We selected a JUICY spot with a DROPOFF LEDGE right next to a shallow zone, and guess what...? Within fifteen minutes of our arrival, we saw blow-ups left and right.

I guess you can deduct the rest of the story already. Heh. The photo below is of my first ever Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) on that same favorite pencil popper. I gave it a long cast out there and the thing got SMOKED right away. The fish fought super hard... it was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. Throughout that day, I caught many other Stripers on Poppers. Needless to say, my CONFIDENCE LEVEL on this particular type of lure went up by 1000% that day. Hahaha.

Have you ever had something like this happen to you? When you have a lure that you haven't quite figured it out yet, but once you do, it becomes one of your FAVORITES? This is exactly what it was for me.

I am pleased to announce that your Boiiii EPF is going to be at ICAST2024 in Orlando, Florida, from July 16th to July 19th. I understand that it is a little bit early for this announcement 😅😅, but GREAT THINGS often happen when prepared IN ADVANCE.

I will be at the Eurotackle Booth — number 5442 — together with my friends Ben (Eurotackle), Blake (IG: btollefson), and Tyler (YT: Fish Hawk). We will be close to Daiwa and Yeti on the east section of the expo.

This week has been such a WEIRD WEEK of CHROWT fishing. Yesterday, the fish at the Pennypack Creek were extremely finicky (P.s. the video from that session just dropped on the YT Channel at 5 p.m. EST). Today, the NJ Trout from the D&R Canal only wanted the Eurotackle Z-Cranker.

They wouldn't take anything else — NO JIGS, NO SPINNERS, NO POWERBAIT. Only the CRANKBAIT.

My guess...? Just like some folks out there, the VIBRATIOOOON probably drove those FISH CRAZY...!!! 😂 What do you think?

Boiii, I love myself a MESS OF STOCKED TROUT. Since I missed the entire Trout Opening Season in PA this year, I decided to hit the Pennypack Creek today.

I was happy to see that there was still PLENTY OF TROUT LEFT in the Creek.

I am happy to announce that there will be a NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO dropping on the Channel TOMORROW at 5:00 p.m. EST: Surf Fishing with my Parents...!!!

This is the first YouTube video that I shot with my mom and dad after my dad had his heart attack in November of 2023. I am not going to sugar coat it — this entire "situation" was quite an ordeal for all of us. 😔

Since November of 2023, it took a few MONTHS for my father to recover from it. Meanwhile, I have been traveling between the United States of America and Brazil to take care of him, and to schedule all the necessary medical exams and cardiologists (yes, plural) for him.

Nevertheless... I am extremely happy to say that he has recovered beautifully. He is currently in China with my mother, visiting my 98 years old grandmother (my dad's mom), and I will be joining them around July-August of this year to visit family members and shoot Lifelisting YouTube videos there.

I hope you all enjoy this video tomorrow!!! I will be making a FULL COME BACK on the YouTube Channel during the month of May, so stay tuned for plenty of contents dropping on all my social media platforms.

I spent R$2290.00 in JDM Lures in São Paulo, Brazil, today. 🤭😅 That's approximately $437.52. This value was AFTER the lady gave me a R$200.00 discount, which is equivalent to about $38.21 dollars.

With the exception of the L-Blue saltwater spooks and poppers, everything else portrayed above is MADE IN JAPAN. The L-Blue Saltwater lineup has Japanese components; however, it was MADE IN THE PHILLIPINES.

And you may be asking yourself — "Yo Leo... but are you really going to use all of this stuff...?!" And the answer to that is: ABSOLUTELY.

A part of these Lures will be used in May/June for my NICARAGUA Saltwater Lifelisting fishing trip. The SunLine 100% Fluorocarbon Line + snelled Tanago style hooks will be used on a regular basis in the USA. The Ayukama and the Fake Baits Lures will be used for YouTube videos in the long term.

I am taking my parents to the Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, today. They are going to my hometown of Qing Dao, Shan D**g, in China to visit my grandmother.

I will be joining them in China 🇨🇳 later this year, around July/August, to catch some "Chinese fish" 🤣😂 for my Lifelist!!! I will be shooting YouTube videos in China for you all as well! Stay tuned.

FINAL UPDATE on the Bucks County TROUT STOCKINGS for 2024:
Good news and bad news, you all...!!!

The bad news were already given in the previous post here on Facebook: there will be NO TROUT STOCKINGS in the DELAWARE CANAL in Bucks County this year due to scheduled repairs in different portions of it. Apparently, they are going to remove a lot of silt and repair a few lock stations along the way. Hopefully the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will be able to stock it again from 2025 onwards.

The GOOD NEWS is that the PA Fish and Boat added TWO NEW STOCKING SITES for Bucks County this year:

— Caroline Lake

— The Giving Pond

Both places will be stocked with Rainbow Trout, AND Caroline Lake is going to be stocked with GOLDEN RAINBOW TROUT as well (great news).

Personally, I think that this was a GREAT MOVE by the PA Fish and Boat — Lake Caroline can serve as a replacement for Lake Luxembourg, and its smaller size will make it EASIER to find and catch the Trout. Plus, Lake Caroline is deep enough in certain areas for the fish to thrive in there for a little while, and there is plenty of access from shore.

As for the Giving Pond, I have fished there two times before in my life. I remember catching a bunch of Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) from it... but I remember the BIGGEST OBSTACLE being lack of access from shore. I would say that that is a good spot for people who have KAYAKS!

Let me know what you folks think about these changes... Personally, I am going to MISS the beginning of the Trout season here in PA, so PLEASE SEND ME PHOTOS OF YOUR CATCHES!!! 😊 I would love to see your Trout catches once the season begins.

A QUICK UPDATE on the Delaware Canal post from yesterday:

So, good news and bad news, right?

The bad news is that the Delaware Canal is not going to get stocked this year due to repair and improvement plans. The good news is that it will be stocked in the future again, once all of those repairs are done.

I have to say... I am a little bit worried about the canal as a whole, though — especially the population of Chain Pickerel (Esox niger) that live in there. I understand people's "needs" to remove a lot of the silt in the canal and make it "deeper and better," but the shallow and weedy environment in different portions of the canal is what is KEY to the natural breeding and survival of the Chain Pickerel in there. The Delaware Canal is one of the few places where you can catch some Esox around here, on the PA side of the Delaware River. If the whole thing DRIES OUT due to these repairs, it is safe to say that the entire population of Chain Pickerel in there is going to die with it.

Well... for now, let's just leave it at that. I will keep you all updated on how this whole thing goes.

Meanwhile, I am kinda giving up on the stocked Trout for the month of April. You folks enjoy it!!! I just booked a trip to Brazil, so I am going to be Lifelisting down there... LOL

Today I am pretty BUMMED OUT, folks. I have heard recently that the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission cancelled all Trout stockings for the DELAWARE CANAL in Bucks County, PA, for the 2024 stocked Trout season...

I looked up the trout stockings the other day on my phone, and I did see the "CANCELLED" status for all upcoming Delaware Canal stockings. However, today, the website seemed to be down. Have you heard anything about that at all?! Is there any truth to it?

Man... year after year, I get LESS INCLINED to get a Trout Fishing License for PA. I mean... We have the Delaware and Raritan Canal right across the Delaware River in New Jersey, and they stock some GREAT Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) over there every Spring.

Meanwhile, for Northeast Philadelphia and lower Bucks County, we really only have the PENNYPACK CREEK and the LEVITTOWN LAKE nowadays. In the past few years, we lost the Neshaminy Creek at Tyler State Park AND Lake Luxembourg (Core Creek).

The opening day of the Trout season at the Pennypack has already been SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, COMBAT FISHING style for the past few years. With less stocked Trout spots each season, the number of people will only go up. Sigh...
