Next to my wedding day and kid being born - one of the most important days of my life was finishing the . Certainly I felt a sense of accomplishment but more so a massive sense of gratitude for the South Bay paddling community and for getting me ready. It proved to me that hard work, discipline and a heck of a lot of determination can produce amazing results. Especially when you ask for help and people show up. It seems like a lifetime ago. I know I am a kook compared to the people who have done so many crossings - but if it’s your first- a word of advice I want to echo that once said on camera- when you finish stop and look up and around. Savor the moment. It will be burned into your soul and be a tremendous piece of courage and bravery you can call on when things get rough. At least that’s been my experience.

Good luck to everyone on the start line tomorrow. Safe crossing to the racers and to the race officials who have the daunting task of keeping everyone safe. And most importantly- have fun. Maybe I will see you all on the start line someday soon.

Don’t know about you , but I hope I can pop into runners and paddle as strongly as in my 60’s. Here he is in vastness of the Kaiwi Channel - it’s sure looks like he is having fun.

showed up at ready for his first solo mission across the channel. He is not only one of the nicest people you will meet but a paddler who makes it look effortless and by the looks of what I saw, got into some pretty fun bumps along the way. Congrats on your first crossing !

Tomorrow is the big day for paddlers to share their stories about what brought them here to Molokai for
Starting around 12pm I will be set up on the ocean side of the pool building. Please come one and come all. I try to keep the conversations brief so you can get out of the sun and back to hydrating. This is my favorite part of the experience - making new friends, seeing familiar faces and working hard to bring your “why” out in our race videos. If you ever wanted to be in one, this is your chance.

One of the most unique things about is not just the depth of the channel and how fierce the winds and currents can be - but also how steep some of the swells look out there. Sometimes it looks like paddlers are literally dropping into big waves close to shore. And even more crazy is how paddlers will disappear in the troughs. Race day is Sunday cannot wait to see what the channel provides this year. .

It’s race week for which means a gathering of legends and new faces. I am so looking forward to seeing the all the paddlers this week. I feel so grateful to be able to be at this iconic event. Especially with guys like around !

Today is race day for ‘s foil race - stay tuned to their insta today for updates. It’s going to be fast - you cannot believe how fast this craft is until you are on a media boat trying to keep up. Got lucky last year and found doing well, what Kai does. It’s amazing to watch people like him float across the channel. Next weekend is the paddleboards and I will do my best to capture race week.

I have been so stoked to be back in the editing chair for Molokai2Oahu creating these retrospective "Molokai Moments". Pulling interviews from the archives and editing them against footage from that year. These are really inspiring videos and I hope you get a little jazzed on them (especially if you are one of the new paddlers this year). I have been playing with upscaling lately and getting stoked on how amazing this technology is. I took a really low res video of Further Seems Forever and worked some magic to get this thing up to 1080 and looking pretty decent. This particular song moves my soul thanks to the vocals of my old bud Jon Bunch. I hope heaven is filled with his voice (he passed a few years back)

The Video R***e project is in full swing. Last week, BOP 2009 was "Re-issued" and this week.. continuing the run of BOP's.. the 2014 Salt Creek Edition was re-edited and posted last night. These are music video style highlights from events I was at over the last 12 years or so fully re-touched up and some are scaled up to 4k from their native files. Its been a really fun project and there are more coming! These are being done in no particular order, and I suspect as I do more... they will just get more fun ! This new race on Oahu sure had it all and was not only a challenging but fast paced course. Alongside the event with Live Tap Media FinFilms co - produced a live stream running off multiple cameras. This is the new frontier of events and with Live Tap we can deploy multi cam live event coverage at a fraction of the cost of large scale platforms.

Huge thanks to Molokai2Oahu for having me back and being open to this new effort. Jamie Mitchell for providing some pretty amazing ply by play commentary and all the sponsors and partners who make this happen.

Really excited to finally say this is happening. We are launching a live stream platform for the race that we have been working on behind the scenes for a while now. really proud to be a part of this team and continuing my work following this incredible sport and the athletes who participate in it
