While visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa County, Colorado I came across 27 Evening Grosbeaks. All of the footage you see was taken at the park. The audio you hear I took the day before of another Evening Grosbeak group. The conditions at the time were too windy for audio, but they were calling just like my other recording.

I was able to photograph this Bighorn Sheep in front of a shadowed hillside. Since this sheep was light in color and had direct sunlight I could get this studio like effect.

For this image I pretty much buried myself in the sand to get as low of an angle as possible. I wanted to get an entirely blurred foreground and background for this Mountain Bluebird shot. I don’t have a high end f4 lens, so I do the best I can with my f5.6 lens. I can get a a really good blur by laying down and having lots of material between me and the bird that can be blurred. No blurring was done in my edit and I had to be very still so the bluebirds would approach me.

I have been fortunate to see 8 Northern Pygmy-Owls in the last month. Although I did not expect to get such a great view. Yesterday I watched two of these small owls hangout and later begin to copulate. I also got to see one of them attempt to hunt a few times.

This Pacific Wren was acting more like a nuthatch than a wren. It was climbing trees along the trunk and when it came low to the ground I got this image. This is a rare bird for Colorado so I was glad to see it.
