The Thomson-McDuffie County Senior Center announced its Senior Citizen of the Year Friday, May 30.

Electrical Fire at Wire Rd/Warrenton Hwy intersection. According to the Thomson-McDuffie Fire Dept, it is contained to the area, and GA Power is working in the area. Please avoid if possible.

As the school system is out on Friday 3/14 and Monday 3/17, the City of Thomson Public Works is replacing a large stormwater pipe next to Thomson Elementary
on the Fluker Street side. There will be no thru traffic allowed until the project is complete. They expect the work to take the rest of today and all of Friday, possibly
into Saturday. The pipe is located approximately at the half way mark of the grassed playground.
The City of Thomson thanks our Streets Department for their hard work.

We are finishing 2024-funded street resurfacing and Tom Watson Way is scheduled for Wed, Feb 26th. We will resurface from Main Street up to near 5-points (N Lee St).
The intent is to do the prep work today (Tues, Feb 25) and perform the resurfacing from 9am-2pm on Wed the 26th, blocking all but local traffic.
This is to start after busses finish morning routes and end before they run again in the afternoon, which is where the 9am-2pm timeframe came from.
Neal Tam advised that bus routes in that area are finished by 8am, so we should be good.
Rather than running one lane of traffic which would take longer to complete the paving, we will block TWW at Main St and N Lee St, having any traffic detour around during the 5-hour window.
