🐾 Have you ever wondered how our dog parks came to fruition in Montgomery County? Longtime resident Laura McConnell started The Woodlands Dog Park Club, which was pivotal in creating dog parks like Cattail Park and Bear Branch. This initiative provided much-needed off-leash spaces for dogs and reduced the number of surrendered pets.

Now operating under Lone Star Animal Welfare League, the group’s mission has expanded to include Lab Rescue, Senior Citizen Pet Pantry, and the Fixing Montgomery County spay-neuter program.

Volunteers are always needed, and donations are welcome. Check out their Pet Pantry Wish List on Amazon or visit www.lsawl.org for more information.

Lauren Moore has been an American Heritage Girl since she was just five years old! American Heritage Girls are a faith-based group that gives young girls an exceptional community & teaches them to serve their community and God through leadership and projects. 🐴🤎

Lauren is currently working on her Stars & Stripes Award, where she is helping the non-profit Trot 2 Your Heart build a gate and two seated areas around their property. Once finished with the entire project, she then goes to an award ceremony where she officially finishes the American Heritage Girl program & can become a leader-in-training.

1️⃣ Balmorhea State Park: Dive into the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pool, perfect for swimming and scuba, with water temperatures between 72-76 degrees. Open year-round from 8 AM to sunset.

2️⃣ The “Quince”: A 15-foot natural pool in the Nueces River, ideal for cliff jumping, floating, and sunbathing. Located near Wood Camp, Texas.

3️⃣ Tyler State Park: Enjoy a 64-acre lake with a family-friendly swimming area, natural trails, cabins, and campsites. A great East Texas retreat.

4️⃣ The Blue Lagoon in Huntsville: A former limestone quarry with crystal blue waters, perfect for a refreshing dip. Open seven days a week, reservations required for scuba divers.

5️⃣ Hill Country Highlights:

•Barton Springs: A 3-acre spring-fed pool in Zilker Park with a constant 68 degrees temperature. No reservations needed but expect crowds.
