Republic Services will run a separate, storm-debris collection route throughout the city the week of June 17. Debris for this added route should be set to the curb in front of your home - without obstructing sidewalks or streets - regardless of where your collections usually take place. Development plans are back on track now for the Pier 121 project and there will be an open house for citizen input. This was announced on May 24, 2024.

The existing 350+/- acre marina property is proposed to be developed into a comprehensive resort destination consisting of the existing marina operations, a surf beach/skills training facility, a 650-site recreation vehicle (RV) resort, and a 150-room lodge. The project will also include relocation of the existing boat sales building, adding additional parking throughout, as well as variety of other supplementary recreation amenities.

The noise and light pollution are going to be unprecedented for the surrounding neighborhoods, especially Stewart Peninsula, with Cottonwood Springs Drive, Spring Hollow Lane and Teal Cove Lane greatly impacted as well as the residential area just east of the park, off of Standridge. You'll also smell the diesel and exhaust fumes from the RV's continually as it permeates through the neighborhoods as I'm sure not all of them will be hooked up to the provided electric utilities at the park.

The USACE is informing you of the upcoming public meeting being held for the release of the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). This meeting will be held on June 5, 2024, at the Hedrick House, 1407 Creekview Dr, Lewisville, Texas 75067 from 4-7pm.

Beginning 5/29/24, the boat ramp at Stewart Creek Park is open. The courtesy dock will remain closed at this time due to extremely high lake levels. The remainder of Stewart Creek Park as well as the Shoreline Trail parking lot will remain CLOSED as staff work to clean up debris from the recent storms. The city hopes to have the park back open to the public as soon as possible and when it is safe to do so. Starting at 7 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, May 29, residents may drop-off tree limbs from Tuesday morning's severe weather in the far southeast corner of the north parking lot of The Colony Athletic Club (formerly Five Star Complex), 4100 Blair Oaks. Signs will be posted in the area directing traffic to the site. The site will be available for approximately one week. Check City of The Colony - Texas Government page for updates.
