The Texas State Fair is just around the corner and the winners for this year's Big Tex Choice Awards were announced today. These awards are divided into four categories this year: the best sweet, the best savory, the most creative and a new category for this year-the best sipper.

A total of 76 entries were narrowed down to 30 semi-finalists a month ago and from those, the top 4 were selected, based on creativity, presentation, uniqueness and of course, taste.

The top 4 that rose to the top are:

Best Taste - Sweet: Chill & Thrill Delight, Tony & Terry Bednar
Best Taste - Savory: Crab & Mozzarella Arancini, Stefan T. Nedwetzky

🍔 White Castle announced this morning that it will be opening their first Texas location right here at Grandscape Texas in The Colony late next summer. One of the oldest restaurant chains in America, decades older than the McDonalds, Burger Kings, and all those all-to-familiar burger joints, there came about a notion to offer a square hamburger, that was easily affordable, with all the fixin's, (including caramelized onions, yummy!), by a gentleman named Billy Ingram. He launched his family-owned business back in 1921 with $700 and an idea, sell'em cheap, five-cents, make them small so they're easy to eat, so that most people would wind up ordering more than just one... the Slider was born.
With more than 340 locations nationwide, mostly in the Midwest and Northeast, you can order them up now for about a buck-and-a-quarter apiece, and you'll also be able to order the chicken-version as well.

They will employ between 80 to 100 people at this location, so keep your eyes peeled to their main webpage at: www.whitecastle.com for future employment applications.

A late-night prank in Frisco turned dangerous on July 28 when 58-year-old Damon Wolfe opened fire at a passing car he believed was involved in a ding-dong-ditch gone wrong.

Police officers were dispatched to the 6500 block of Scottsdale Way just before 11 p.m. where the suspect, Damon Wolfe indicate to police that he had shot at some someone who had tried to kick in his door. After hearing the door being kicked, Wolfe exited his house, walked towards the street and opened fire at a vehicle driving away, which he believed was involved in the attempted break in.

Later that night, officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle that had been shot at. Police said the three occupants of the vehicle indicated they were randomly shot at while driving along Legacy Drive, but later revealed they actually were performing a ding-dong-ditch, which is a popular Tik Tok challenge.

Police discovered multiple gunshot holes in the vehicle and enough evidence to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Wolfe, charging him with three counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony. He was arrested by Frisco police on August 7.
