The political conflict over the Arctic has reached a bizarre and symbolic climax as Greenland’s parliament, the Inatsisartut, introduced unprecedented legislation targeting the U.S. President. In a unanimous show of defiance, lawmakers proposed a bill declaring Donald Trump and "all his descendants for 100 generations" as personae non gratae on the island.
This legislative move is a direct furious response to the leaked $700 billion acquisition offer and the subsequent military pressure applied by Washington. Greenlandic Premier Múte B. Egede stated that the proposal serves as an "eternal rejection" of the commodification of their land and people. While legally unenforceable in international terms regarding "descendants," the bill carries immense symbolic weight, formally closing the door on any future negotiation.
The ban comes as European troops from France, Germany, and Norway arrive to bolster the territory's defenses, emboldening local politicians to take a harder stance. By extending the ban to Trump's lineage, Greenland is culturally asserting that the "Golden Dome" project will never be welcome, regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.
