Tuesday Trivia Revealed! Before Joining Nirvana in 1990, Dave Grohl, lead singer of the Foo Fighters, cut his teeth with Washington D.C. punks, Scream. After running away from his father's home and striking out on his own on the outskirts of the Nation's capitol, Grohl found himself as the starting drummer and key songwriter for Scream in 1987. Having learned to play the drums by beating drumsticks into his pillows at home, he developed his unique and aggressive drumming style that would later become the basis for the Nirvana superhit "Smells like Teen Spirit". After leaving Scream in 1990, the rest is rock and roll history!

Tuesday Trivia Revealed! The existence of radio waves was proven in the 1880's by Heinrich Hertz and the first practical radio transmitters and receivers were developed in the 1890's by Guglielmo Marconi. Before the 1920's, radios were an invaluable and convenient communication tool during World War I and were almost exclusively used by the military. After the 1920's had begun, however, radios finally began to make their way into the hands of everyday people. This soon led to the creation of the first radio station, KDKA, in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia. Isn't it so amazing how long ago that was and how far technology has evolved since then? Thanks for tuning into this weeks Tuesday Trivia! Hope you enjoyed it and we'll see you again next week!

Back again with ! While perusing the vastness of the internet in search of more WMHD history we came across an interesting find within an ancient lost archive known as... MySpace. Although there wasn't much left, there were a couple interesting finds including this flyer! Apparently Maps and Atlases is an American indie rock group from Chicago, Illinois that came to perform at Rose-Hulman through WMHD radio! (they also played 'math rock' as well which feels extremely fitting, playing at an engineering school lol). If there are any alumni who know about this event or what year it's from we'd love to hear from you! Or if you've heard of this band before, tell us what you think in the comments below!

Trivia Revealed! There were many awesome duos of the 80's, but then there was Tears for Fears. "Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal fancied themselves a far more serious proposition than those other twosomes. Not for them all the excesses emblematic of the era. They took their name from psychotherapist Arthur Janov's primal therapy, which suggests that emotionally scarred adults can heal by giving voice to their repressed adolescent pain. Tears for Fears' debut album, 1983's 'The Hurting', was a monochromatic expression of resentment and anxiety, most notably the seminal single "Mad World." The multiplatinum follow-up, 'Songs from the Big Chair', was a brilliant litany of complaints by "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Shout." For a time, these two damaged individuals had such a sure hit-making touch that they turned the world into one big psychiatrist's couch." Isn't that not only a cool reason for naming the band, but also an awesome reason to drive them to produce such outstanding music? Thanks for participating in this week's Tuesday Trivia! See you next week! (Credit info to an amazing book called Mad World by Lori Majewski and Jonathan Bernstein; published by Abrams Image)

Tuesday Trivia Time! Every Tuesday we'll ask a band, radio, or music related trivia question and you can see if you have what it takes to figure it out before the answer is revealed at the end of the day! This week's question is related to a notorious twosome from the 1980's called Tears For Fears. How do you think the name "Tears for Fears" originated?
