Burton H. Brewer 1936-2015

It is with great sadness that we deliver the news of the passing of Burton H. Brewer, Publisher and Editor of The Beacon Magazine. For over 19 years, Burt worked tirelessly producing The Beacon each and every month. His love of the local community kept him working long past the age of retirement. He believed that local businesses were the lifeblood of our economy and he went out of his way to promote them. Burt also enjoyed the entertainment scene and spent many nights and weekends visiting restaurants and reviewing entertainers in the area. He loved keeping his finger on the pulse of what was happening in the community and was a true advocate of the arts. Burt really enjoyed the face-to-face meetings with the people he interviewed, as well as the direct contact with the many loyal Beacon advertisers. His folksy, mid-west demeanor made him instantly likable to all who met him. Burt was truly “one of a kind” and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
