What YOU say means nothing. What your CUSTOMERS say means everything. While most of your prospects won’t read a 2 paragraph testimonial, many will watch a 30-60 second video testimonial. Tips to get the best video testimonials from your customers.

- Choose enthusiastic customers that look good on camera and represent your target demographic.
- prepare open ended questions designed to elicit the desired response.
- KISS: Keep It Short Stupid. You can always break up that 4 minute testimonial into 4 one minute or 8 30 sec videos that can be released over time.
- Use professional lighting and audio
- If you don’t know how to edit, hire a professional editor.
- Include a call to action at the end but don’t be too salesy
- Upload the videos to YouTube, properly optimize and embed them into posts and pages on your website and google business listings
- Share on social with links to your website and/or sales pages to learn more.

Pro Tip: video is just as much (if not more) about selling the agent as is it about selling the property.

I first wrote this in June of 2012 and it’s even more relevant 12 years later. Fun fact, back then many told me agents would never embrace video (costs too much, they’re lazy, they don’t understand it). There were no sales trainers using video at this time. No Ferry (either of them), No Buffini, no Proctor.

BENEFITS OF VIDEO IN REAL ESTATE
1. Video builds trust and rapport. Studies have shown that people are more likely to like and trust people they have seen in person – even in video marketing – than people they have only spoken to on the phone or email.

2. Video is emotional. Video conveys much more than text or pictures. We are more likely to laugh, cry, be happy or sad by something we see than something we read. If a picture says 1000 words, video says – them all.

3. Video is fast. We can convey a message in a shorter about of time with video than text. It could take another real estate agent 20 minutes to convey their value through text whereas that same message can be conveyed almost instantly through video. As consumers attention spans get smaller you need to grab their attention immediately. Video does that.

4. Video is believable. You are more likely to believe a video message than one comprised of text or pictures.

5. Video uses more of our senses. We naturally believe in what we can hear and see. It is easier for our brains to process. These visual cues in a video can convince us of the appeal of a product or service. A home for sale or a real estate agents knowledge and experience.

6. Video Is Purple Cow. Every agent has a website but not every real estate agent is using video. Nationally, less than 2% of real estate agents are using video. Video is different. In a sea of links on the 1st page of Google, Video sticks out like a sore thumb. Video is Purple Cow.

7. Video Gets Found. Video is 57% more likely to make it on the 1st page of Google than text alone.
