I have been seeing many posts regarding the influx of investors coming into the area and offering ridiculously low prices to the residents who have spent years building their equity in what is likely the largest asset they own. As a Realtor I have to let you know that you have options. First and foremost, always consult a Realtor before you pull the trigger. There are many great agents in this community, and we will offer a non emotional, non biased opinion on the value of your home in it's present, or repaired condition. As professionals, we also have investor clients that are not fly by night or predatory. A property is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and what someone is willing to accept for it. Please, please, please, do not make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions. If an agent is trying to charge you for a home valuation, find another agent. We all have access to the same data, and evaluations are a part of our service at no charge. There is also the option of doing an auction, or an institutional ibuyer that we as professionals have access to. We have all been affected by this, and together we will get through this.
