Duke Energy uses helicopters to replace lines downed by hurricane
Cool video frm Duke Energy of helicopters transporting transmission poles. These are to replace downed transmission towers toppled in swamy areas during Hurricane Michael. The new poles, which can weigh up to 25,000 pounds, were put into place to replace the damaged electrical grid and make it more resilient. There are currently 220 people working six days a week to install and connect 320 poles.
Noah Ridgeley describes the moments after his father lit a firework he found by the side of the road a few days ago and tried to ignite New Year’s eve. The firework blew up in his hand causing him to lose his thumb and part of another finger. We’ll have more at 5 pm.
US Coast Guard looks for illegal charters in Tampa Bay region
The U.S. Coast Guard is cracking down on illegal charter operations in the area. During this recent boarding, the fishermen had the required credentials and safety gear aboard. Those found in violation can be shut down and fined. Illegal charters are a growing concern, because of the safety risks posed to the public.
