🚜 HAPPY FARMALL FRIDAY! This beautifully restored IH McCORMICK 1953 FARMALL SUPER M caught my eye while attending the Union Threshermans Club Thresheree and Tractor Show in Symco, WI last July. The owner of this 1953 tractor is from Clintonville, WI. The FARMALL SUPER M row crop tractor was manufactured from 1952-1954. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend! Enjoy!

Farmall tractor
The Farmall Super M was a significant agricultural tractor produced by International Harvester in the early 1950s. It was introduced in 1952 as an upgraded version of the popular Farmall M, offering enhanced performance, reliability, and versatility for farmers looking to handle more demanding tasks on the farm.

The Farmall Super M was equipped with a 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produced approximately 48 horsepower, a notable increase over the regular Farmall M’s 41 horsepower. The engine's increased power allowed the Super M to handle a variety of tasks more efficiently, including plowing, cultivating, mowing, and hauling. The additional horsepower also made the tractor more suitable for working with larger implements and handling heavier farm chores.

One of the key features of the Farmall Super M was its advanced hydraulics system, which was an improvement over the original M model. This new system allowed for better control and operation of implements, making it easier to attach and use equipment like plows, harrows, and grain drills. The tractor also featured a PTO (Power Take-Off) system, which enabled it to power various attachments, such as hay balers and mowers, significantly expanding its capabilities on the farm.

The Super M’s transmission featured 5 forward and 1 reverse gears, offering a good range of speeds for different farm tasks. This was combined with a rugged 2-speed PTO that allowed the operator to select between low and high PTO speeds for different equipment requirements.

In terms of design, the Farmall Super M retained the distinctive Farmall-style grille and a narrow front axle, which made it well-suited for row-crop farming. The narrow front axle allowed the tractor to navigate rows more easily, making it an ideal choice for crop work and maneuvering in tight spaces. The Super M’s frame was designed for durability, and the overall build of the tractor was robust enough to handle the rigors of daily farming operations

The **1951 Farmall Cub** was a popular, compact tractor designed for small farms, particularly well-suited for plowing and cultivating small plots and gardens. With a 4-cylinder, 9-horsepower engine, the Farmall Cub offered a reliable solution for lighter tasks, making it an ideal tractor for small-scale or hobby farmers. It had a unique offset design, known as "Cultivision," which gave the operator a clear view of the row ahead, allowing for more precise control and maneuvering. This feature made the Cub particularly effective in row-crop cultivation, enhancing efficiency for tasks like planting, weeding, and, especially, plowing.

The Cub’s small size and maneuverability were advantageous in tight spaces, allowing it to navigate small fields and orchards with ease. Its one-bottom plow attachment was perfect for breaking up garden plots or small fields, and it could handle soil preparation for various crops with minimal soil compaction. The Cub was also economical on fuel, making it a cost-effective option for farmers who didn’t require the power of a larger tractor.

The 1951 Farmall Cub’s affordability, durability, and adaptability contributed to its popularity among small farmers, and it remains a beloved classic for collectors and hobby farmers alike for its efficient, reliable design.
