To all members and guests, we will be the program on Aug 28th so hopefully you will have an old family story , a genealogy episode, or anything of that nature to share with all who come. Like other groups, some which appear to have vanished after the Pandemic, we could use some new members, folks that are willing to help out if needed, and if you have no time for that, someone to fill the seats. Hope to see you there

Subject: Genealogy meeting to resume in August '''Attention Kim

The Indian Territory Genealogical and Historical Society will resume its regularly scheduled meetings in keeping with Northeastern State University's Schedule as classes commenced earlier this month. The Genealogy meetings are scheduled on the last Monday of the month, this month being August 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Ballengen Genealogy Room of NSU's John Vaughn Library. The program for the meeting will consist of stories told by various attendees about their genealogy research. The stories can be in any form, sad or funny happenings suggestions for research, memories passed down by a relative etc. Visitors are welcome at no charge and attending would be a good time to see where the Genealogy Room is located and and what resources are available as the room is opened by Shirley Pettengill and Diane Kindell on Monday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. They have access to Ancestrsy.com, Fold 3 and Newspapers.com, and are available to give assistance. ITGHS welcomes new members but membership is not required to attend meetings.

Just a reminder that there will be no meetings in May, June or July. Our next meeting will be in August. Please be thinking of speakers
you would like to hear while keeping in mind, no religious or political speakers with an agenda. Have a wonderful time off and we will see you in August (the lazy, dog days of summer.) ☀️

There are copious amounts of questions that have been asked since the creation of this page. I have no idea if any of these questions have been responded to. I would hope so but if not, I apologize. From now on I will try to find answers or put you in contact with those who can. Thank you.

Message from Anita Keen Deiter: "Just want to pass on to anyone who is unaware that the Keetoowah Museum on Willis Road (W) has a neat exhibit of artifacts found in the area of Georgia where some of the Cherokees lived before removal. It is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ernestine Berry, who had done a program for us, is there to answer any questions. If you wish to call ahead to alert her you are coming the office number is 918-772-3489.

There is no charge, but they do have a donation box in the entrance to the regular museum if you wish to see both museums, the rooms are connected. The exhibit was to close in July, but has been extended and may remain until the end of the month.

Judith and I found it very interesting. Any questions, contact me; I'd be glad to go with a group if there are several who would like to attend and a common date could be arranged."

Reminder, ITG&HS meetings resume this month! Don't miss tonight's presentation by guest speaker Gayle Ross.
