Finally! It took forever and multiple versions of a website build to learn that sometimes you just need to listen to mentors when they tell you that they have the info you need to succeed. I finally debugged the website to be fast and performant. Plus, now the theme looks great and all works. I should have just done this theme from the get-go like suggested.
