LinkedIn: Being who you are is professional
βοΈ When I'm not geeking out about video stuff, branding, and marketing strategies - I'm training in the martial art of Muay Thai. π₯ Imagine boxing, except you're also allowed to kick, elbow, and knee your opponent. It's known as one of the most violent combat sports in the world.
βοΈAnd here's the thing; I don't like confrontation! I'm an extremely friendly person and growing up I always got bullied for that. Being punched, kicked, elbowed, kneed - it hurts!! It does not feel good, and at times it's terrifying! At times in training, I feel like I want to give up, cry, and come up with all these excuses why I can't...
π― But you know what? Life hurts. Life is terrifying. Life doesn't give a f*ck about how you feel. And how you respond to adversity, not the adversity itself is what really defines you. How you do anything is how you do everything, so I made a commitment to myself that it does not matter what type of challenge, adversity, fight, etc. I will not back down and I will find a way to overcome. I'm committed to GROWTH and being the best I can be. No matter how bad it feels. And I'm always gonna get back up, keep trying as if my life depended on it. Because it does. That to me is what it means to be a professional.
π Being a professional is being committed to excellence. Being dedicated to always improving your craft and area of expertise. It takes discipline, belief, and holding a bigger vision for yourself and the people you want to impact. Mistakes will happen. You will feel terrified. You will get knocked down. But as a professional, you have a job to do regardless of whether you FEEL like it or not. So get back up, laugh it off, reassess your strategy, make the adjustments and keep trying. & just thank God for this gift called life.
