By listener request, Opera Encore will have a tribute to legendary bass Paul Plishka on Saturday, February 15th at 4 PM on WCNY Classic FM. Plishka was with the Met for over 50 years, and racked up 1,672 performances! We'll hear this versatile singer in music of Puccini, Bellini, Verdi, Donizetti, and 2 roles in Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov". He'll also be with such colleagues as Placido Domingo and Shirley Verrett, and conductors including James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Mstislav Rostropovich, Julius Rudel, and Alain Lombard.
