A Love Poem
This one had to be the most interesting recording off of the For Love album to produce. I was so worried about how it was going to turn out and then I started playing around with the plug-ins and this is the end result. The audio version of Stained Glass Windows for Butterflies, is the For Love, goes a little bit deeper into who Blyss is. This song/poem speaks of that party-wild child side of me when I would go club hopping and raves (where I was the only one high off the green). I would go to dance clubs and gay bars to get lost in the music. I just wanted to dance. When I chose the music for this track I knew I wanted to capture that period of time.
These are some cards I made for my grandma. I love getting creative and getting my hands dirty. The song is called âYesterdayâ by Ms. Blyss, yours truly. It was one of the songs that didnât make it on the For Love album. I wrote it in the kitchen while washing dishes. I was at the cusp of my healing, but still mourning a bit. I wanted to find my forever, true love but I knew that wouldnât happen holding onto the memories of my first love, who passed. I cried during one of the recordings. Iâm not sure if this was it. I hope you like it. What do you think? @topfans

âSelfish.â This was one of the first poems I wrote after my first love was k!lled. I had a complete breakdown. Every interaction flooded my mind. The moments he opened up to me and I was so consumed with myself that I didnât hear him. Iâm not a fool, from day one I knew I wasnât the only one. I knew when he had another woman drop him off at my uncleâs house (before he went to prison back in 1997). But we had this bond. I could blame our demise on him all day but it was me. If the tables were turned I wouldnât have forgiven him. I would have dropped him immediately. I lied to him about everything, my age, my nameâŠbut he forgave me. I wouldnât have been so understanding. It took him dying to see that the problem was me. That was the most humbling experience ever. @topfans
âLadybug Magicâ has to be one of my favorite songs/poems to record. It was in the wee hours in the morning and I remember I went to the bathroom and I started scatting and I said it would be perfect for the this sing only I had never really scatted before but I tried it and it didnât come out exactly like I wanted but it was good for a first time. I just recorded a bunch of tracks and played it back like I want all of them and here we go. @topfans
