Most people online aren’t aware but in 2014-2015, I was “hitchhiking” down south and was in the throes of alcohol and drug addiction.

Meeting strangers all over TN, GA, NC, SC and FL and exchanging stories, jokes and music for booze, drugs, food and showers left me in a dark place. (Notice food and showers came last)

This way of life and the tremendous amount of guilt I carried, soon brought me to despair and brought on a disgust for the life I was living.

In July of 2015, I was struck by a tri-rail train in Delray Beach, FL. A truly gruesome scene, a gentleman who worked as a security guard at a nearby bar began to save my life and ensured I ended up in a hospital immediately following the incident.

I lost both my legs below my knees and had woke up in a hospital.

I have to say openly, this was in fact my fault-being drunk and depressed and getting too close to the train as it passed by I was sucked underneath.

A long road towards normalcy was carved out for me and my immediate family bent over backwards to show their endless love and support and demonstrate this with their actions, for which I’m forever grateful.

At the time I did not know that I had gained a brighter future from that darkest of places. A series of events would lead me to find help and hope as I was carried home.

I always wrote music about all aspects of life, knowledge, love and wonder- but my inspiration over the last 9 years or so is drawn from the experiences I’ve had on the smooth and bumpy road of recovery. ❤️‍🩹 I mean that in as many ways possible.

This is a brand new song, I’m currently recording it. I don’t post much stuff if it’s rough and ready. But this one is fun to play and I thought I’d share.

It’s called “Don’t you know” derived from the chorus “Don’t you know that you are loved?”

I find at times, especially with the influence of social media, I can compare myself to others and bring myself down or think I’m not enough and I have to remember that I am loved and that’s a beautiful thing.

This song is about that, the idea that wherever you’ve been or whatever you’ve been through, you’re enough- don’t beat yourself up. If you’re doing your best and being yourself there’s never any shame in that.

It’ll be released soon, but here it is for anyone who needs to hear it today.
