Attention parents of students in the following homerooms: Causey, Whitman, Dunn, Clark, Young, Reddell, Sibley, Oncale, Campbell, Wilson, Stanfill, Palmer, G. Willis, McLean, Phillips and Murphy: Please see the attached flyer with details of ornaments made in art class that will be displayed at the downtown Sylvester Train Depot. Unfortunately, not all classes were able to patriciate due to other programs, activities, etc. We hope to add to this every year!

Last week, fourth-generation farmer Mason Roberts from Sylvester, Georgia, came by my office in D.C.

Mason operates his family's cotton and peanut farm and is known for his work in nutrient stewardship. He was recently recognized as the Fertilizer Institute's 2024 4R Advocate, a practice that uses the right kind of fertilizer at the right time, place, and source to maximize crop yields while limiting potential impact.

I'm honored to represent hardworking farmers like Mason as the Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee!

The Walter Harrison Scholarship, created in 1985 by the board of directors of the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation, is awarded to students who excel in the areas of GPA, SAT scores, academic ability, scholastic honors, and demonstrate a financial need. The award pays tribute to the late Walter Harrison, a pioneer in the rural electrification movement and a leader at the local, state and national level in the electric cooperative program.

To be eligible for consideration, students must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program, complete the two-page Walter Harrison application and write a two-page autobiographical sketch with references to future plans and goals. Students applying for this scholarship MUST live in a house that receives electric service from Mitchell EMC. DUE DATE: February 1, 2025.

Francis got his first look at the renovated Phoebe Worth ER that opened since he was last here. He is so excited that Phoebe Worth received designation as a Level 3 Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) Center. This achievement means we are equipped to stabilize and treat cardiac emergencies while ensuring patients can be transferred to a Level 1 Emergency Cardiac Care Center in Albany.

Francis is proud to see Phoebe Worth leading the way in heart healthcare. When it comes to life-saving treatment and holiday cheer, we’re here for you! Head over to our Instagram to see where Francis is headed next!

Annual Christmas Parade in Downtown Sylvester starting at 6 PM

After the parade, will be the annual tree lighting at The Depot. Santa will be there, pony rides for $5, a Grinch Bouncy House, Candy Cane Corner for the kids, AND a vender selling toys for the kids. Don't forget the Christmas trees on the back porch of the Depot! It will be a very fun night. Hope to see you there.
