The planned renovations to the Soundside Park boat ramp have been rescheduled to January 2nd.

The renovations will expand the 78 foot ramp to 92 feet. The ramp’s underwater section will increase from 28 feet at average low tide to approximately 42 feet.

One boat ramp is set to close for about four months.

As November rolls on, days are getting shorter — nights longer as we inch closer to wintertime. Here along the Topsail Island, North Carolina coast, we're still enjoying comfortable fall temps most days. Tonight, much of the inland area is under a "freeze watch", the first of the season. In any case, it is a wonderful time of year here on the island... come see for yourself! 🏖️

EVENT: This October, for the 35th year, art and music lovers will gather in Topsail Beach at the Autumn with Topsail festival. 🎃

The rain or shine event will begin Friday, Oct. 18, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., continuing on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Historic Assembly Building, located at 720 Channel Boulevard.

The beginning of October looks to be a beautiful one across the Greater Topsail Area as we expect sun to mix with clouds, comfortable temperatures — mainly in the low 80s for daytime highs, with low rain chances through next weekend. There are signs that the region's first "fall cooldown" may arrive by early next week, stay tuned... 🍂

We welcomed in the month of October with a breathtakingly gorgeous morning at Topsail Island, North Carolina! Though the days are getting shorter, afternoon temperatures are still reaching the 80s with our ocean water temp in the upper 70s. Life is good. 🧡

Every year, each school in North Carolina receives an N.C. Report Card grade from the NC Department of Public Instruction. The grades are based upon the school's achievement score and its growth score.

All seven Greater Topsail area schools received a "B" grade.

EVENT: The grand opening of a new Surf City Recreation complex is set for October 5 -- from 1 to 5 pm -- which includes a ribbon cutting, food trucks and family activities.

The new complex will offer a variety of new recreational activities including a skatepark, inclusive playground, sand volleyball courts, picnic shelter and restroom facility, walking trails and parking.

ARRESTED: 23-year-old Ted Arthur Davis and 20-year-old Rylie Tate Petrosky, both of whom are stationed at Camp Lejeune, have been charged with first-degree forcible r**e and felony conspiracy.

Both men are being held under no bond, with a bond hearing scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23.

Police are continuing to investigate this case.
