Repost from Sageling @bodywelltherapies Immune system and circulation.
.
Lymph vessels are similar to veins in structure. Their muscle layer is thin and they rely on valves, the activity of skeletal muscle and breath for the movement of fluid back towards the heart.
Lymph vessels are a one way system of vessels that collect fluid that has ‘leaked’ out of the blood at the capillary bed. Without the lymphatic system, essential proteins and nutrients would be lost from the blood, resulting in blood deficiency, and inflammation in the tissues. As this fluid journeys back towards general circulation, it travels through a system of lymph nodes. Part of the immune system, these nodes monitor the fluid for threatening bacteria & foreign matter. When the lymph nodes swell, this indicates an immune response is taking place. The nodes are taking extra time to filter fluid, one of our body’s many methods for health! . .
Best ways to kick-start your immune system? Movement with breath. Sun salutations and Thai massage are great examples of this. .

Cupping is an ancient form of treatment used by naturopathic doctors and practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Sarah Kristolaitis describes cupping as a “reverse massage” because the vacuum created in the cup causes the tissues to be pulled upward.
There are numerous techniques that are used with cupping. Slide cupping is done by slowly moving the cup along your muscles. It can help:
👉 increase circulation and lymphatic drainage in the area
👉 loosen up muscle, fascia, and scar tissue
👉 improve mobility and recovery.
.
It’s great as a standalone treatment, but it also complement to your massage, acupuncture,
chiropractic, or infrared sauna treatments!
.
Sarah's NEW Schedule: Tues and Thur 5-8pm and Sat 10am - 1:30pm
✨Reminder: Book an appointment in July and/or August and you will be entered in the draw to win a massage every month for a year! ✨

"Hello everyone! This is my first blog. Let's start with something common: head forward posture.
There are increasing reports of health deficiencies related to 8-10 hours, 5 days a week (+) sitting at a desk. The everyday stress and anxiety combined with extended time leaning forward can cause functional changes. With absorption into work and life management we often forget. The protracted time being spent in various positions during desk work can lead to postural imbalance of muscles; requiring attention to strengthen certain regions and stretching others. The stressed positioning of the cervical in extended periods while forward leaning can cause pressure on the facet and temporomandibular joints. Furthermore, functional changes can compress lymphatic vessels, vasculature and nerve roots.
Many of us have to keep consistent days of work. However, we do have the option of taking some time out to help balance the function of our bodies. More related exercises to follow. "
Eric Paquin RMT.
