The Berkeley County School District sent a message to parents on Monday, Aug. 26, about an alleged threat at Stratford High School in Goose Creek.

“You may be aware of a social media rumor circulating that there is a current threat to the Stratford High School campus,” the district said. “School administrators and law enforcement are investigating the reports but have not received any information to substantiate an actual threat to the Stratford High School campus. Out of an abundance of caution to ensure safety, there is an increased law enforcement and district security personnel presence on the campus.”

In the statement, district officials also said safety and security are the No. 1 priority and encouraged students to report concerns to school employees instead of posting them on social media so the “appropriate investigation and action can be taken.”
