July 31 will mark the end of a groundbreaking era, as the date of the final subscription box and last day for customers to shop from .

Launched in 2012 during the early years of the textured hair movement, Curlbox introduced thousands of Black women to hair products made specifically for naturally curly, coily and kinky textures, putting fledgling brands on the map, giving new hair products accelerated exposure, and providing retail buyers with the reference point and data that helped develop the category.

Curlbox makes the claim to be the first monthly subscription service for textured hair and has curated 127 boxes. Although a number of textured hair subscription boxes have followed, none have outlasted or come close to duplicating Curlbox's success.

The news of Curlbox's closing was shared via their social media, website and email list. Curlbox Founder, Myleik Teele, says she started the company as an idea to make textured haircare more fun and accessible without breaking the bank. Over the past 11 years, Curlbox evolved into a trendy educational and shopping platform, honoring and teaching the textured community how to embrace and care for their natural hair. Teele expressed gratitude in a social media post, "I sincerely appreciate every customer who helped make one of my wildest dreams come true."

The Curlbox era ends with an established legacy of being a game changer, disrupter and powerful voice within the multicultural beauty industry.
