The Edit Society is back. 📸

I’ve had a wonderful summer being home with Emma and our new addition Addy. The disconnect has been much needed for a recharge and newly established boundaries with my work life and I. Things will be changing a bit around TES even from what we launched in February. But these changes are structured around protecting my creativity for each and every client.

Currently I will only be taking on website and Photography clients. I will be referring graphic design, social media, emailing, and Pinterest out to trusted colleges that do a wonderful job and I trust them to take care of each of you fully. Something I’ve realized is I’m happiest when I’m not on social media, my creativity isn’t drained because I’m not struggling with imposter syndrome and comparison (if you know you know)! It also keeps a lot more time open for my family which is my priority right now. I adore you all and appreciate the continued support and interest in working with me. I’ll go into a little bit of detail of what The Edit Society will look like now.

✨ Photography: Trips will be limited, however I will release dates that I’ll be going out of town via socials and email. If you have an upcoming collection, project, or are just interest in shooting with me, reach out and we can discuss details. I’m currently planning out around 2-3 months in advance and client spots are extremely limited.

✨Websites: I will be offering web design and monthly refresh for sites. This will be limited as well to a handful of clients to ensure each client is getting a customized and personalized experience!

Baby VerVynck is a GIRL 💗

I shared earlier this year the struggles we have encountered along the way of having our second baby. When we found out we were having another girl I got so emotional. This baby is coming and she is ours, she is healthy!

Her anatomy scan was in January and she looks perfect, all test have come back with no red flags. My fears are slowly disappearing, we even got to go on a hospital tour and make a birth plan this past week and it felt so real. I feel so thankful for this baby even though she kicks like a mule all night long!

Here is to the next 17 weeks until little Adeline makes her appearance! Be prepared for me to finally bomb y’all with all the cute nursery things I’m getting now that we have announced gender!

As creatives we aren’t always on top of our creative game. HOWEVER it doesn’t mean we can’t still be creative even when we don’t feel inspired.

When I started pose mapping session it helped me so much, it helped prevent me burning out in weeks I had back to back shoots! It also helped me compile a map that really helped me show case my clients product.

Are you feeling irrelevant on social media too??

Make sure you are creating and working towards YOUR goals, not what the industry pushes or what everyone else is posting.

Because what works for one person may not work for you or your business, so it’s better to learn that sooner than later! Also, comparing yourself to others will literally eat away at you. Just don’t do it!

It’s also ok to decline projects or big names if you don’t align with them, because if they can’t help you achieve a goal and attract the right clientele why would you work with them?

Slow and steady wins the race, and when you are genuinely connecting and creating for people that you align with you attract your ideal client every time. 👏🏼

3 tips for being a working mom-entrepreneur:

1️⃣: Just start: even if it’s not pretty at first.

When I was pregnant it was overwhelming to think about how I would run a business, be a photographer, and a full time intentional wife & mom.

However, when she was born I just started, I figured out what worked and what didn’t, it was trail and error and lots of encouragement from my community around me.

As a newborn I wore her in a pack and she was so happy to just be with me. As she got older I switched to an osprey back pack at photoshoots and would bring a stroller as well.

Now she’s 3 and busy; but it’s taught me she just wants to feel involved in what I am doing.

Once I realized that, I bought her a camera and I would bring her toys she could play in the dirt while I work.

2️⃣: It’s ok to ask for help.

Ive realized this as she has gotten older and more independent. For her safety she needs someone watching her full time.

Some shoots I know will require more help with her; so I have someone come to shoot with me (yes; I could leave her with a sitter but I want her involved in what I do, it also helps me not worry about her because she’s there with me!); she stays with John when I have local shoots.

When traveling it’s all on us, I’ve learned to make sure and schedule in fun things for her on busy shoot days, like going to the park or getting a little treat. We have been recently looking into having someone travel with me to keep me organized with product and then at shoot time care for Emma and soon to be baby.

Life evolves as does my working system!

3️⃣: Be kind to yourself.

It doesn’t always go as planned; but it’s ok, it’s about the end goal of why we include our babies in our everyday.

My mom worked full time with my dad growing up; we were always included in their everyday. We worked along side them and loved every minute; it really gave me some of the best memories.

Being able to provide the same thing for my babies is extra special.

So many blessings yet so many trials as well.

The more I talk with my community of entrepreneurs and business owners, the more I realize, we are all in a time of trial. Burn out is running rampant, we are all struggling to gain inspiration, drive, and to keep going with the business that at one point we loved and were passionate about.

Where did we drop the ball, how did we all end up here at the same time?

It’s so sad to see so many giving up their businesses or their passions, because they ultimately aren’t inspired to keep moving forward.

I can’t lie; this year I’ve struggled with the same thing.

Some days I have a fire under me to achieve it all, other days the urge to just be a wife, a mother, just myself, without my identity being my business and continually worrying about work.

Something I want to focus on in the new year is living in the moment of what I’m wanting in life.

If that’s traveling all over to take pictures, or staying at home to garden with the my babies, or driving truck on the farm.

Whatever that looks like I want more of it. I want that flexibility, I want to LIVE and not survive.

Since 2020 we have all been doing just that.

Surviving, hustling, shoving our noses so far into the grind we forget to stop along the way and live a little bit in the moment every day.

So with 2024; I am calling in a lot of changes, to KLC, my life, and the way I live. I want to be intentional, grounded and living everyday the way I was created to live it.

My prayer is that I somehow find that balance this year and I also pray that for all of my fellow creatives & entrepreneurs!

Let’s slow down, let’s be intentional this year!

Since finding Emily on Instagram when she was just a baby business owner with only around 500 followers I saw something special. She was stepping out and creating, not with professional photoshoots, she grew into those. But she has worked hard for where she is, I found out when shooting with her for the first time this past fall that her mom takes all her pictures, this made me love her more because she has just done the dang thing with the support of her family.

She dares to style differently, carry different and unique pieces and wants to stand out and be creative! At such a young age Emily has really taken the industry by storm and I can’t wait to see her keep growing.
