It's been a wee bit since I last shared a painting due to my failing sight. But the desire is still there and my weightloss (25kg so far) has also improved things some. Most likely because my blood sugar levels have dropped back out of the prediabetic range.

I was initially going to paint something soft and pretty, but then global matters caught my attention and the painting evolved.

Instead, I have expressed my rage over the state of things in the U.S. right now.

The drawing for this painting was originally a very benign picture called "Dragon Priestess". Her eyes were wide and full of hope, her lips were curved in a gentle smile, and she was far less draconian. She continued on in this benign form for the first two weeks I worked on her, but then SCOTUS overturned Roe vs Wade, and I found myself angry. Very angry.

Last week, the painting transformed. I closed her eyes, gave her tears of blood, placed a chain around her neck, broke the heart-shaped gem on her crown, and put blood upon her robes. Sigils have been woven into the very foundation of this painting. Behind her is a sigil for "End the Patriarchy". On her lips is a sigil for "I Will Not Be Silenced". On the collar around her neck is "I Belong To No Man" (Note the lock is open and she is free to remove it) and on the gem at the top of her crown is one for "I Will Not Be Controlled".

She is no longer a simple priestess. She is the Dragon Queen, and she is now awake and royally pi**ed off.
