My boy Judah is 12 now. Tonight I watched him walk up to a girl in the grade above him, and lay down a super cheesy one liner -
"Girl, are you from Tennessee? Cause you're the only 10 I see!!"
She rolled her eyes and walked away.
I quickly realized, WE DO THIS EVERY DAY IN THE MARKETING WORLD!!!
We use cheesy one liners, like EVERYBODY else, and we expect people to just swoon, and sign up and buy.
Unless you're in retail, a one liner isn't going to get it done.
" #1 Website Designer in Tennessee" would be a pretty STRONG marketing pitch. There's not really anything better than to be able to say #1 in THE WHOLE STATE, or even THE WHOLE COUNTRY.
But, read that line, and tell me if it's enough to get you to schedule a meeting with someone on my team.
IF you didn't KNOW me.
I'm not saying we're all doomed to only make sales to people in our SOI (Sphere of Influence).
I'm saying EXPAND your SOI to INCLUDE people you don't know!!!
How?
Lay a foundation of trust, through authenticity and transparency.
Provide Value, Lot's of Value, MULTIPLE TIMES.
If an ideal customer is "in market" for your product or service, and, you have nothing but "one liners", you're doomed.
This isn't Stand-up Comedy hour. It's not going to work.
You need to bring something to the table.
And then do it again and again.
You need to build a relationship between your ideal customers and your brand, through repetition, trust building, bringing value, authenticity, proof of concept, testimonials and reviews, and more.
Think of all the things that would make you spend $10k or more with a company, then identify those traits, those threads, those things that make you trust them, enough to actually talk to them.
Now figure out how to convey those same traits, from an authentic position, with YOUR brand.
I'm doing it right now, by speaking from my heart, and speaking for my brand.
It's not hard to do it, it's hard to LEARN HOW to do it.
Go have fun!! Love you!!
