The Cowboy Journal is a magazine produced during a capstone class taken by agricultural communications seniors in their final semester. Morgan Gravatt is from Oakdale, California, and is majoring in agricultural communications. Morgan’s favorite memory in the AGCM program is the life-changing conversations and hugs she received from the department staff, which made her feel truly supported.

Jami Musshafen is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a marketing minor. Jami’s favorite memory is having some of her photos win awards in the national ACT contest, a proud moment for her.

McKenzie Layton is from Pocasset, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications. McKenzie’s favorite memory is seeing all the hard work come to life when they were introduced to the new Ag Hall, a moment of excitement and pride.

Meet the Cowboy Journal staff!

Kiersten Bourquin is from Lubbock, Texas, and is majoring in agricultural communications with minors in human resource management and marketing. Kiersten’s favorite memory in the AGCM program is working on her campaigns project with her best friend and making a new friend through the experience.

Morgan Dennis is from Maxwell, California, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agribusiness. Morgan’s favorite memory is taking the summer photography course in Hochatown, where she got to know individuals in AGCM outside of the classroom.

Grace Bryson is from Labadie, Missouri, and is majoring in animal science and agricultural communications. Grace’s favorite memory is going on a study-abroad course to New Zealand and Australia with Shelly Legg and Dwayne Cartmell, an experience that left a lasting impression on her.

Hartley Silva is from Modesto, California, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agricultural economics and agribusiness. Hartley’s favorite memory in the AGCM program is going on travel photo shoots with Dwayne Cartmell, where she had the opportunity to explore and learn more about photography.

Payton Irick is from Seminole, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agricultural economics. Payton’s favorite memory is going on adventures during photo tour with her peers, making lasting memories and connections.

Sidney Whitney is from Indianola, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agribusiness. Sidney’s favorite memory from OSU is a conversation with Angel Riggs about how hard work can lead to success, even if you struggle in a particular subject. It gave her the confidence she needed after transferring to OSU.

Madison Zweiacker is from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agribusiness and agricultural communications. Madison’s favorite memory is riding in the car with Dwayne Cartmell, Sara, and Paisley to the Wildlife Reserve, jamming to music and learning more about each other.

Katey Brickman is from Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications. Katey’s favorite memory from the AGCM program is taking her first class, where she not only learned the basics of agricultural communications but discovered her passion for the field.

Karlee Shiery is from Camden, Michigan, and is majoring in agricultural communications. Karlee’s favorite memory at OSU is spending time with friends and building friendships that will last a lifetime.

Taylor Kelner is from Bradley, Arkansas, and is majoring in agricultural communications. Taylor says she will miss her friends, professors and the town of Stillwater — it has truly felt like home.

Meet the coordinators behind this semester’s Cowboy Journal! These students play key roles in photography, design, media and sponsorship — helping bring the magazine to life with creativity and leadership:

Allie Jo Owens, sponsorship coordinator, is from Fort Worth, Texas, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in marketing. Her favorite memory from the program is meeting some of her best friends and creating design work, photos, and stories she’s truly proud of.

Elena Santiago, online media and graphic co-coordinator, is from Frederick, Oklahoma, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in agribusiness. Elena says she’s most excited to collaborate with her classmates to create something meaningful through Cowboy Journal.

Rylee Smith, online media and graphic co-coordinator, is from Oologah, Oklahoma, and is pursuing a dual degree in agricultural education and agricultural communications. Her favorite memory in the AGCM program is going on photo tour with Dwayne Cartmell, where she made lifelong friends and gained valuable photography skills.

Meet the assistant editors of this semester’s Cowboy Journal! These students bring talent, heart and a love for storytelling to the magazine — get to know a little more about each of them:

Regan Davis is from Chico, California, and is double majoring in agricultural communications and animal science with a minor in agricultural economics and agribusiness and a certificate in equine enterprise management. Regan says the people are what she will miss most about OSU — incredible peers and professors who have shaped her into who she is today.

Brianna Stockwell is from Dowagiac, Michigan, and is an agricultural communications major with a minor in agribusiness. Brianna’s favorite memory from the program is staying up late in the computer lab with friends, finishing assignments and making memories along the way!

Laura Wuebker is from Versailles, Ohio, and is double majoring in agricultural communications and agribusiness. Laura is most looking forward to helping share the stories of Ferguson College alumni, faculty, students, and staff through her work on Cowboy Journal!

Meet the editors of this semester’s Cowboy Journal! These talented students work behind the scenes to ensure every page of the magazine reflects the high standards of our AGCM program, all while showcasing the incredible stories from our OSU community:

Emma Menefee is from Los Banos, California, and is majoring in agricultural communications with a minor in marketing. Emma says she will miss the atmosphere of OSU, the feeling of being "home," and knowing the staff and faculty are always there to help and support you.
