A couple months ago I made the decision to start putting a little more effort into how I dress for work. I figured that as a servant of the Church—and therefore representing Her, to some extent—it was time for me to own my work in a new way. It has by no means been a cakewalk; I remain no master in sartorial matters.

But the Lord has used this as an opportunity to increase my confidence in myself, in general. I have discovered the satisfaction (and, more often, frustration) of massaging out a perfect daily dimple in my necktie. I have rekindled my love for sweater vests. I have come to know the joy that wearing suspenders can bring, particularly when matching with my son at Holy Mass on Sundays and after eating a good meal. And the Lord has helped me to realize once again that sometimes seemingly silly, simple little lifestyle changes can yield meaningful results.

So here’s a rare self portrait. Cheers to the dapper phase!
