Over these past few months, I've appreciated all the support. The hopeful comments, the shares, the likes, all of it is appreciated. But now I need your vote!

Vote Hadley for Arenac County Sheriff on your Republican ballot this Tuesday. I don't shy away from the tough questions. I will always be transparent, and always accountable to YOU.

07/30/2024

This is my interview with WKJC. It will air later this week. You get to hear it early! Listen below to learn more about my campaign and what I want to bring to Arenac County as Sheriff.

I love Arenac County. I want to make sure we stay protected and there are some critical tools that we lack, but more important today than ever before.

07/29/2024

Let's set the record straight. Body Cameras and Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) are essential tools in modern policing that the Arenac County Sheriff's Department DOES NOT HAVE.

They are critical to officer and public safety, and they cost local taxpayers next to nothing. I know what my opponent and his supporters say, but they are lying to you.

The U.S. Department of Justice provides grants through its COPS program and community policing operations for both body cameras and MDTs. Several private grants, such as those from Motorola, are also accessible to local police departments.

Consider this: every surrounding department, including local ones like Au Gres, already utilizes these vital tools. Iosco County Sheriff Scott D. Frank, who endorses my campaign, confirms that Iosco's upgrades were fully funded by state and federal grants.

As equipment ages and upgrades are needed, additional grants are available. The funds are ongoing. The only cost to the department is around $500 a year for cloud storage to keep the body camera footage secure.

Simply put, the resources are there.

While I deeply respect Sheriff Mosciski, I am fed up with the misinformation. Anyone who thinks Arenac County doesn't need these tools should stand up and make that case to the voters. Let them decide. But treating these grants like Big Foot is ridiculous.

These grants exist. They are available. And it's time for Arenac County to take advantage of them to better protect our community.

Time for a Change in Arenac County

For nearly 50 years, Jim Mosciski has been with the Arenac County Sheriff's Department. He's been the Sheriff for more than 30 years altogether. That's a long time to serve — and I truly respect his service.

What else happened 30 years ago? Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) became standard equipment in police vehicles. Then 15 years ago, Body Cameras became standard equipment for police officers.

Now days, both are standard equipment for modern law enforcement, and every surrounding county utilizes these tools. They protect cops, improve efficiency, and help get criminals off the streets.

But Arenac County does not have them. Why? Because Jim Mosciski does not want them.

He's a man out of time, wildly out of touch with the modern tactics and tools that today's law enforcement needs. He runs the Sheriff's Department like we live in 1974.

I'm running for Sheriff because I understand the importance of adapting to new challenges and technologies. I'm committed to implementing body cameras and Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) to enhance officer and community safety, and to ensure accountability.

Arenac County deserves this protection. Our deputies deserve this protection. Your family deserves this protection.

Sheriff Mosciski is a good guy. He's just out of touch.

We live in a strange world today where cops are a target for criminals and lawyers. That's why we need to modernize our Sheriff's Department, to keep us protected. We also need to think about retention and recruitment. Having the right tools to protect our deputies makes this easier.

I want to earn your trust, and your vote this August 6th in the Republican primary.

For too long, our Sheriff's Department has lagged behind in adopting modern technology that is crucial for the safety and efficiency of our officers and our community.

I am humbly asking for your trust and your vote so I can bring these common sense upgrades to our department, to better protect you, your family, and our heroic officers.

As Sheriff, I will make sure each deputy is equipped with a body camera. This not only protects our officers but also safeguards our community from unnecessary lawsuits, fostering transparency and trust. Body cameras will provide an objective record of interactions, ensuring accountability and enhancing public confidence in our Sheriff's Department.

I will also modernize our patrol vehicles by equipping them with Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs). These computers have been in common use by police departments all over for the last 30 years. They significantly enhance officer safety by broadcasting their location to other officers, ensuring rapid response and coordination in emergencies. With MDTs, our deputies will have real-time access to critical information, improving their ability to serve and protect Arenac County.

And I will bring these upgrades AT NO COST to local taxpayers.

NEW IDEAS & FRESH PERSPECTIVES

Sheriff Jim Mosciski is a good man who has served our community for almost 50 years. I respect and thank him for his dedication. But I believe it's time for our department to start using new technology to make the Arenac County Sheriff's Department safer, more efficient, and more transparent.

If you want to keep Arenac County safe and protected for years to come, please join me in supporting these common sense upgrades, and please consider casting YOUR VOTE for me, Duane Hadley, in the August 6th Republican Primary.

I will not let you down.

God bless.

We had a great turnout on Saturday for the Duane Hadley for Sheriff Meet & Greet Event with local Republicans.

Several local Republicans spoke at this event, including State Representative Mike Hoadley, Arenac County Drain Commissioner Larry Davis, and my opponent, Sheriff Jim Mosciski.

I welcomed Jim to share his ideas and campaign information. He was very gracious, and we even shared a few laughs together. We get along well. We just have some honest disagreements about the best way to run a Sheriff's Department in today's world. That's what this election is about.

I want to thank everyone who came out. It was a very successful event, and I appreciate the other candidates, including my opponent, for speaking and sharing their vision for Arenac County.

Let's please keep our country, our community, and President Donald Trump's safety in our prayers.

USA! USA! USA! God bless President Trump.

Recently, I was sent a photograph showing an inmate from our county jail working on the roof of a private residence. I called it a blatant misuse of our resources, and I stated that it was illegal.

It is.

Using inmates in this manner poses a significant liability for the taxpayers of Arenac County. Non-violent inmates on work programs are strictly limited to public and non-profit grounds, but this instance clearly violates that policy.

If the inmate had been injured, the taxpayers of Arenac County would be responsible for covering his medical bills, as our insurance would not cover his medical expenses.

The Sheriff then accused me of running a “dirty campaign” and claimed it was a local church helping a family in “dire need.”

But the truth is, this house is and has been vacant for a long time. There is no family living in this residence.

For the record, I fully support assisting those in need. There are over a dozen agencies with the resources to help families with home repairs. These agencies can provide safe assistance by using licensed and insured contractors, without any liability to the taxpayers of Arenac County.

For months, I’ve talked about the lack of body cameras and MDTs in our police vehicles being an officer safety issue, as well as a liability for the taxpayers. This is yet another example of the current Sheriff making decisions without any regard for the taxpayers of Arenac County.

Jim Mosciski is a nice man, no doubt about it. But he is set in his ways, and continues to make poor decisions that put our officers, our community, and our taxpayers at risk.

We need to implement common sense changes and transparent policies that prioritize officer safety, community safety, and respect for the taxpayers of Arenac County.

Over the last few days, I’ve been attacked by supporters of my opponent, many of whom work for him. They have been targeting my campaign page, my personal page, and tagging me in various posts.

Their goal isn't just to attack me. No. Their goal is to lie to you.

It’s well known that I believe the Sheriff’s Department needs some upgrades, specifically Body Cameras and Mobile Data Terminals. My opponent claims there’s no money available for these tools.

This is false.

The U.S. Department of Justice has set aside funds in the form of BWC grants, providing up to $2 million per department to cover the cost of Body Cameras.

Why not take advantage of these grants?

Body Cameras provide a record of each police and civilian encounter, and are an essential tool to counter the lies and false accusations frequently directed at our police officers nowadays. They can save taxpayer dollars by fending off false lawsuits. This is a no-brainer.

Mobile Data Terminals are another necessary tool I want to bring to the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department.

What are Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs)?

Whenever an officer responds to a call, they need a reliable, secure, and connected means of sending and receiving information. MDTs allow them to communicate with other officers, as well as ambulances and fire trucks. Information they may not want to send over the airwaves.

Another great feature is that these devices automatically broadcast an officer's location to other first responders. In the event of an emergency, if an officer is not responding to radio calls, their whereabouts are known, enabling other first responders to check on them promptly. This can be the difference between life and death.

Like Body Cameras, MDTs can also be secured with grants. In fact, the Department of Justice offers grants under its COPS program. Both the Verizon Foundation and the Cisco Foundation can help pay the difference with their own grants to local law enforcement agencies.

We don't need to spend local tax dollars. The money is out there, already set aside. We need only someone with the knowledge and the will to do it.

And to be clear, these aren’t new fangled tools or special-order items. Body Cameras became common in 2010, and Mobile Data Terminals have been used as far back as 1980 (much better technology today, of course). All surrounding police departments have these tools. The Tribal Police has these tools.

There is no reason for Arenac County Deputies to be without them, especially when they are so important to officer safety and response time.

One side effect of these tools is that they ensure accountability.
Ask yourself why anyone would be against accountability.

I'm Duane Hadley, and I want to be your next Sheriff. I'll do an outstanding job and I will make you proud. Please consider giving me your vote this August 6th in the Republican primary.

Another hero gave their life. This time with the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Department. The Deputy, whose name has not yet been released, was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop, the Michigan State Police confirmed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Deputy's family, friends, and colleagues. Horrible news.

Trump won the debate hands down. Biden failed to answer for a border that's bringing drugs to Northern Michigan in record numbers!
