Cookies take time, lots of time. It's the main reason I've stopped making them this year but I plan to get back to it next year once my son is in college. Between travel sports and a senior in high school, I want to be fully present. Like any artist, when I'm making cookies, it's all I think about and work on for days on end, I love it but it's a HUGE time commitment. I'll never say no to my kids, they are the only reason I taught myself to bake fancy cakes and cookies.

When you spend your life sitting at volleyball courts for hours, you really get to know people. This birthday girl is from one of the best “people” I’ve met! Happy 3rd Birthday to sweet, beautiful, feisty Aaliyah! Hope your day is as perfect as your fashionable outfits! 😍🎂🎉

The end-of-year football banquet was a bittersweet milestone. My son’s journey from first approaching the coach with his interest in plays and analytics to now being celebrated as a graduating senior alongside the players has been such a fun ride. I have truly enjoyed supporting him and the Forge team this season, right down to the last-minute cookies. 🙄 😂 With his favorite team winning the Super Bowl, it was a perfect ending to the football season this year both in and out of school!

My brother always requests cake flavors that are unexpected - the tres leches cake on his 30th, a tennis racket hazelnut cake on his 40, lots of experimental flavors for other birthdays but everyone knows his all-time favorite is banana. Yes...banana! You don't often see banana cake for sale because no one wants to eat it! But this guy does and he knows I'll make whatever he wants. This milestone birthday cake is a banana custard filled cake!

The Scottish thistle was present throughout the ceremony for this lovely couple celebrating their 25th anniversary over the weekend. I met Tracey when our kids were in first grade and I’m so fortunate that our friendship has deepened over the years. Her love story is rare and touching. They are one of the most well-matched couples I know, even as complete opposites in many respects. The cookies were but one of the many surprises for guests at a celebration for which “save the dates” were sent over a year in advance! A ceremony at Gari Melchers Home and Studio and dinner and dancing Brock's Riverside Grill made for a memorable fun night! Special thanks to my friend SoYoung Kim who spent many hours helping me with these cookies.
