Who leaves for vacation at the height of the busiest cookie season? I guess that’s me as I begin to realize how fleeting these years are. Before summer reaches full swing with volleyball, behind the wheel driving lessons, a first potential summer job, summer school for math to get ahead, prepping for my youngest to begin high school and continuing to renovate my parents house we slipped out for a two-week trip. First stop Amsterdam. We loved it. But while one kid wants to come back, the other is one and done. The history and architecture are amazing. There’s no shortage of things to do and I don’t think I’ve ever ever tasted such amazing cheese in my entire life, I could literally make a meal of anything with cheese!

I didn’t want graduation to go by without posting this cookie bouquet I made for my friend Eva. We met when our kids were in strollers and she’s one of those friends who always shows up with more food than necessary and a party favorite for every celebration she attends. Eva insisted on needing no help this time around but when I remembered the last thing she brought to a party I threw for my husband, I knew the perfect thing to make!

There are three volleyball clubs in my area 108 Beach Volleyball Club, 540 Volleyball Academy and JKsports and while we compete, we also encourage each other and I love that. I also love this volleyball mama ! She’s a good friend and she’s way cooler than me because she had the ENTIRE TEAM for a sleepover at her house. I just don’t think I could handle that so it’s fun to live vicariously through her! Tracey coordinated all kinds of fun things for the girls AND she gave them each a sweet treat which I tried to match to their team colors.

I was pretty excited when this set came together. 😍 You think you’ve seen every theme that’s out there and then a new one comes up, A Lifetime of Butterflies! What a lovely sentiment for this beautiful bride! Her mom picked it up the set after making the most beautiful balloon arch in the same color scheme. Must have been a stunning shower!

When I first heard about this lovely bride going out with a neighborhood kid of ours, my friend mentioned that her son would probably marry Claire. How can you know that when they are just a couple of college kids? Betsi is one of those people who has great intuition. She just knows stuff. We all know those types of people, my mom, Yvonne, Charmaine...I'm a bit clueless and it's not a bad way to be but sometimes I wish I just knew stuff!

I knew he wanted a cookie cake but I offered to pipe a shoe or a football or a basketball but he said "no need, just the number is fine." It's so different from several birthdays ago when he wrote out all the Pokémon he wanted me to pipe as cookies. 😳 When I asked why he wanted such a simple cake, he said, I don't want you to work that hard and it will taste the same. Wow...so wise at 16!

It's Tay Day and I have to admit, the biggest Swiftie in my house is me! My daughter likes her too but I love her music, especially the older stuff. When I was asked to do a private class, I was thrilled when this sweet girl picked Taylor Swift from the themes I offered! I plan to do this class soon for anyone else to sign up. The location where I wanted to host Kimman's is closing 😞 but I may start hosting in my home to avoid this type of thing. I'm just trying to get brave enough to do the first one and then it will probably be easier to make it a regular thing! Anyway, back to my TS class - it was the cutest, most interesting student I've had in a long time. I absolutely loved teaching her and showing her around my bake shop set-up and sharing lots of little secrets about my cookie decorating. I couldn't even get over the cuteness factor when she put on her chef's hat and jacket, I need to step up my game! When you talk about super aunts, Gretchen Moss is really amazing. This was an "experience" class for her niece and when she left and texted me to say her niece said "she could have stayed all day," I was thrilled that she enjoyed it as much as I did!!

Galaxy cookies for a corporate event. I had to sign a form yesterday saying it was fine for my high school son to wear the glasses to look at the eclipse when he stays after for Science Club today. I don’t remember worrying about putting on paper glasses...ever! Am I missing something? Anyway, science is a beautiful thing. Seems like a lot of fuss but I’m happy to hear about the eclipse and I’m sure they’ll always remember this day and their experience in school talking about it!

This corporation had a week of teambuilding and incorporated a baby shower for some of the employees. The only thing they asked me was to use the colors of the logo somewhere in the cookies. Fortunately, the logo colors are vibrant and bright. My husband gave me the great idea to sub out the shower text for the logo text and I love the results!

When it’s the same cake each year, the only change is the piping. This coconut cake is a family fav! It’s a yellow cake with a coconut custard filling and a pillowy soft marshmallow-textured seven-minute frosting. Layers and layers of deliciousness! Wishing my beautiful sister a year as sweet as the cakes she loves to eat!

Sweet Charlotte turned 8 and her mom has always been so supportive of my baking...she moved from Northern VA to Richmond but she picked up her cookie order at a volleyball tournament making it easier for both of us! Being a mom has really increased my efficiency! 😳☺️

I only have one kid who loves cake so I always look forward to seeing what she requests! This year the birthday girl sent me a pic of what she wanted and I did my best to replicate it. She loves chocolate so it’s a deliciously moist chocolate cake with chocolate frosting beneath a swiss meringue buttercream since it’s easier to color than chocolate. I intended to top it with fresh food-safe flowers but my husband couldn’t find any at either Publix or Giant so I had to improvise using royal icing flowers I had on hand since I often make flowers using leftover icing.

One of the biggest things about hosting a birthday party for tweens is "what to do?" Fortunately for my niece Veda, a Swiftie fan, friendship bracelet cookies were the perfect activity with her friends before their sleepover...all ten of them! 😳 The decor was all done by her talented mom Purvi Vashee. I pay close attention to Purvis work because my planning involves copying whatever she does especially since our girls’ birthdays are just days apart! 😜

One of the biggest things about hosting a birthday party for tweens is “what to do?” Fortunately for this Swiftie fan (my niece🥰), friendship bracelet cookies were the perfect activity with her friends before their sleepover...all ten of them! 😳 Side note...I’ve never hosted a sleepover...not a fan and I feel bad but then again my kids don’t know what they’re missing so it’s all good...right?! Anyway...my niece is a sweetheart and I love helping with her birthday parties especially since her interests are completely the opposite of my daughter’s. As a Taylor Swift fan myself, I loved creating these palettes for her special day and her uber-talented mom brought it all together with the most lovely set-up for the girls!

Love that my son is enjoying high school football...not as a player but as a member of the team going to games and practices and running up and down the field with the coach writing down every play. He asked me to make cookies for the end of year banquet and I was thrilled to do it for him.

It's that time of year when we are all looking for a bit of holiday cheer. One thing that's makes EVERYONE happy is cookies! It was such a fun day teaching two classes at Kimman's last Saturday. We met lots of new people and saw some familiar faces. Both classes were full and everyone left asking for the next class schedule (on my list of things to do over the holidays!). By the way, you come in with no experience and leave with cookies that look like little works of art...what's not fun about that?!

We had such a fun neighborhood cookie exchange last night. What a great opportunity to see old friends and meet new neighbors. I was so glad that someone else was in charge but after going to the exchange I was so impressed with how well executed it was...Brigette Norman did an amazing job putting it all together! It's hard getting creative with volleyballs when you make them repeatedly but for this time of year, you can't beat a volleyball decked out with a bow! 🎀🏐Plus my daughter joined a new club team this year so I really wanted to get the 108 Beach Volleyball Club logo on these cookies. Best part, watching them get devoured at the party! 😋

My sister-in law Purvi is our family party planner. She makes every birthday celebration special for each of us. Timelines are so helpful when making large orders like this one. 800 cookies is a lot when you're a home-based baker but mapping it out is a great way to get it done in time for a deadline. I want to bake early enough to finish but late enough to ensure that the cookies are fresh... therein lies the challenge! 🤯 For this particular order, I had a full-time assistant which made the entire process seamless, easier andfar more enjoyable! She accompanied me to the delivery and she in fact drove us there in her minivan, Thankfully her Chicago residencyrendered her immune to any fear of driving in the snow. I'm from Stafford, Virginia, I never drive in the snow!😜

There are so many ways to make cookie moss. I usually put a few cookies in the food processor with some green coloring. It’s a mess to wash and I don’t need much for this order so I tried a new way to make it! Love the cleanup and the therapeutic feeling of hammering something! 😜 #ameetabakes

A fun cookie decorating class for Valentine’s Day! The group learned new techniques and they made beautiful cookies as you’ll see at the end of the video! My friend SoYoung is helping with the set-up as you see on this reel. It’s the best thing ever when you become friends with your kid’s friends’ moms and she’s a great one!
