We had a fantastic time presenting our Celestial Counterpoint program for a full house at the 560 music center Saturday night! From Milhaud, Higdon, Simon, and a wonderful premiere from Jessica Flannigan — we do it again at SIUE on Wednesday!

On CELESTIAL COUNTERPOINT we perform Drift, an eventual lullaby by Kenji Bunch, a long time fan-favorite! Years ago when we first performed this work we interviewed Kenji on our blog and also invited Bob Chamberlain to write a blog about Augenmusik, which is how Kenji wrote Drift.

We're excited to be playing the music of American composer Kenji Bunch this month. We got his CD Boiling Point and fell in love with the piece Drift and decided it fit perfectly on our DREAM program .    Much to our surprise, when we got the music, it was not written out in t

Premiere alert!!! New music alert!!!

On Saturday Jan 18, we are so excited to play Jessica Flannigan’s brand new work “And the Sky Opens” commissioned by Chamber Project.

Jessica is a prolific composer for percussion, but here she expands to a trio for clarinet, cello, and piano.

Jessie says: “After many years of searching for the right conditions to stargaze, I wanted to write a piece that captured the moment my family and I finally found the perfect place. And the Sky Opens illustrates a drive through the darkness of night, contrasted by the awe of stepping out into a blanket of stars across the sky. You can then hear the dancing of satellites and shooting stars as they move through space, ending with a reflection of the beginning as we drive away content.”
