Got the Southland 6 ton electric log splitter out yesterday and split almost a cord of hackberry before the upcoming winter storm. No, it's not a $1000+ dollar, gas powered, 25+ ton, hydraulic splitter, but it does the job. 🤘

Buy 1 used get 3 Poulans free? My 55 is in the shop and I have been wanting to find a backup saw. I happened across an ad for the 142 on the left and it came with a Poulan 2150, a Poulan P3314, and a Poulan PPB4218. I suppose I will clean all of them up and see what runs. I have been borrowing a MS251C and while it does the job, I just don't like it.

I cut up that third of a trailer Load of free Hackberry on Saturday and caught that sunset and finished today with a pickup load of all of the smaller stuff. All that's left are a couple of big chunks of the original trunk, but that'll have to wait until after this week's winter storm. I've really enjoyed cutting wood lately.

A few days ago, I picked up some free pallets with the plan to build a pallet bin for green firewood. So I got started the same day and finished up getting the sides up today in the last pic. I need 1 more big pallet for the front left and it'll be done for now. Last picture shows all of the wood I had to split. There's about 2 pickup loads there (8ft bed). I think I can probably get 2 more truck loads in it once I get the last pallet down. Going to cut some more dry wood tomorrow. The "new to us" wood insert install and flue re-line should be done in another week or so. Hopefully I'll have enough to burn for the rest of this season. I can't wait!

So after weeks of watching YouTube videos and doing research on electric log splitters (mostly because I am cheap), I decided I would give one a try. We are having one of our flues re-lined and a wood burning insert installed in a few weeks and I have started gathering firewood. Coincidentally, right as I was getting ready to pull the trigger on one that I had found, some friends from church posted one for sale that was lightly used so I bought it. I brought it home to try out and ended up turning that pile of wood into that split, stacked pile of wood in about 15 minutes. It works pretty doggone good. Now, it is only a six-ton splitter so no, I will probably not be starting a firewood business with it. Lol. There were a few knotty pieces that it just wouldn't power through and that's understandable. I think for the size of wood that I will be bringing home, this should do the trick for a while. Check out my YouTube page for a YouTube short of this splitter in action.

I just bought this used off some friends who only used it last year. It is definitely going to be a useful tool.

After 4 years, I was tired of looking at our empty upstairs fireplace. The flue liner is toast and the damper is toast also. After a little research,, I found a Chimneyfree electric infrared heater log set on the app and thought that it just might "fill in the blank" for a while. So, I bought one and set it up. So far it's perfect! Yes, you can tell it's not exactly real, but just appearances sake, it looks better than the black hole that was there. Fantastic!
