These past few weeks Zachary started some new medicine. It is always hard to try new medicines because he can’t tell us how they make him feel. We have to make decisions based on his behavior and demeanor.

Medication is a complicated subject for a lot of families living on the spectrum.

After 23 years, I truly learned a ton from listening to Dr. John and Dr. Tan discuss medication.

If you haven’t listened to this episode, I encourage you to listen soon!

Have you ever felt isolated in your parenting journey?

All of us moms definitely have, it is the reason we started this podcast!

We all live in the same community, but through the years we lost touch and connections with other families due to our life parenting a young adult on the spectrum.

When we connected again over dinner it felt like a reunion that we needed!

Take some time to listen in to the very first episode of our first season where we introduce ourselves and our adult children on the autism spectrum.

Our hope is that we can offer you connection and the realization that you are not alone in this journey! ❤️

Welcome to the last episode of our first season! Hang on to your hats because, in this episode, the moms discuss controversial topics that have made their way into the autism community over the last 20-plus years. Everything from vaccines to self-diagnosis is discussed and debated. Each mom has a different perspective based on their family’s experiences. A welcoming, safe space was paramount to ensure the moms could discuss these topics with vulnerability and without the fear of judgment. Listen in and hash out all the controversy with us! Have you checked out this week's episode yet?

We had the opportunity to sit down with April from the Missouri State Bear POWER program. Our community is unique because we have this educational opportunity in our area!

Educational opportunities after high school are extremely limited for individuals living with disabilities, and families rarely find opportunities that are close to home.

Bear POWER (Promoting Opportunities for Work, Education, and Resilience) is a wonderful program with no age limit!

Check out this short video where Jacob and others share their inspiring success stories from the program. Their experiences will surely inspire you to be a part of this program.

Then go check out the episode and plan to attend their next open house on September 20th!

We hope everyone had a great Fourth of July with your families!

We wanted to share some exciting news!

When our podcast began, we wanted to connect with others through our stories and experiences. We all felt isolated during our journeys, and we hoped that others might listen and feel less alone.

Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that we would have the chance to sit down with someone who has been a beacon of inspiration for us. The opportunity to interview Temple Grandin is a milestone we never thought we'd reach.

So, you can imagine the mixed emotions we all experienced when we sat down to record an episode of Navigation Adult Autism with Temple Grandin!

We were shocked, nervous, and excited all at once! Temple was kind, answered our questions, shared helpful tips, and encouraged us to continue advocating for our adult children.

We can't contain our excitement as we look forward to sharing this special episode with you on September 16th, marking the beginning of our second season!

In the meantime, please tune in to our last two episodes of season one!

Thank you so much to all who have connected with us through the podcast! We are so grateful for the connections!

In this episode, we welcome back Dr. Kyle John, Dr. Raymund Tan, and Dr. Lindsey Reichert to the podcast! They are vital to the team at The Arc of the Ozarks Autism Neurodevelopmental Center in Springfield, Missouri. The center is a new resource in our community that provides timely support, diagnostics, interventions, and many other resources.

In this discussion, we focus on the role medication can play in individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Medication is, at times, a controversial topic in the ASD community. Dr. John, Dr. Tan, and Dr. Reichert do an excellent job of discussing concerns that families may have. In addition, they share information about current research and successes in the field as well as some hopeful new avenues we may be able to explore in the future. Please join us for this thoughtful and meaningful discussion.

A new episode came out Monday and because of the holiday I missed posting about it! And it might be one of our best yet!

In this episode, we welcome Dr. Kyle John, Dr. Raymund Tan, and Dr. Lindsey Reichert to the podcast! They are vital to the team at The Arc of the Ozarks Autism & Neurodevelopmental Center in Springfield, Missouri. The center is a new resource in our community that provides timely support, diagnostics, interventions, and many other resources.

In our discussion, we dive into the process of obtaining a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. How do families initiate a diagnostic appointment? What diagnostic tools are utilized during the process? Should families wait for a diagnosis before beginning treatments? The panel of doctors will answer these questions and many more.

There is a new episode out!

In this episode, the moms discuss how our families navigate through behaviors when they occur. How do we create practical consequences to help our adult children succeed when they struggle with behaviors? The goal is always for them to succeed in life as much as possible. This journey looks different for all of our families as we represent the vast spectrum of ASD. We hope you will join us in this critical discussion!

This is an inspiring story of a disability rights advocate who worked for the ADA and fought for individual rights to work and move around New York City.

As moms of adult children with autism, we are constantly advocating for their rights. Some children are able to fight for themselves, while others rely on us for support. Together, we are stronger. That's why we created this podcast - to offer help and support to our community in Southwest Missouri and to uplift and encourage one another.
