Day 3 of the sunrise BYOC Dad’s Prayer Meetup in Spring Hill, TN and today we prayed over our thoughts, our tongues and the words that come from it, and the way we not only talk to ourselves but to those we love the most in life, our families. Dads, how has your tone at home been? Is it formed with love and life or belittlement and disrespect. Are you the same man in the market place as you are in your home? This is something I’m bringing to light because it’s something I’m working on in my own life. I’m the first to admit, I’m not always responding in the most life giving ways. One thing I am good at is talking through responses and attitudes with heart felt apologies after, something I don’t remember my dad doing for me as a kid. It’s important to realize behavior vs identity. Someone who teaches this extremely well is @thejuliagentry I’m so thankful for amazing friends, mentors, and our community. My goal in life is to be authentic everywhere I go. If strangers and clients get the most patient version of us, then let’s make it a priority in our homes as well. #lifegivingwords #speaklife #dadlife

What can you possibly learn in nature?? How about becoming a leader… 💪🦁 #leadership #familyman
Racing to the finish line is over rated. I’m doing my best to find every one day win I can. When I’m intentional, I’m the best dad I can be. When I sleep in, procrastinate, and over book myself, I become so stretched that I can become irritable.
.
Always trying to catch up to where you think you should be???
.
🛑 STOP
.
Where you’re supposed to be is right where you are. What can you do to make the best of today and create a one day win?
.
Then repeat tomorrow for another one day win…
.
Before you know it, you’ll have a winning week, a winning month, and a year you’re proud of.
.
As Dads, let’s create some winning streaks together.
Shoot me a DM, as I support distracted dads who want to be more intentional with their families, lives, and work.
.
I’ve met many dads recently who are fighting to get see their kids. I’ve met dads who are going through some really hard times right now.

Homeschool with Dad … what’s that like? #homeschool
Life doesn’t slow down. There will always be a reason not to go, find the reasons to make it happen.
Traveling to far away places is not needed. There are places within a half day’s drive that will provide adventure, somewhere you’ve never explored.
Our children don’t need to fancy places, whether it’s building a sandbox in your backyard or turning over some rocks to see what’s on the other side, they simply want your time.
This is your friendly reminder to go on a new adventure with your family. #familyadventure #familyadventures
Time in nature makes you feel more alive than ever, that’s why I go. When I’m with friends, family, or traveling solo through nature, I feel the closest to God’s presence… am I the only one?? #chasinggod #godchaser #hispresence #hiking #nature #colorado

What is Love? Can you define Love with the same word?? There is a better definition and so here it is.
.
As a dad, I’m learning to check in with this definition daily and in every moment. When emotions heighten, am I living from a place of Love?
.
In conversations and tones with my wife…
.
When speaking to my children…
.
When in a debate…
.
When I know I’m right and feel wronged…
.
When someone steals from me…
.
When someone lies to me…
.
When someone disagrees with me…
.
When someone gets hurt…
.
How are we responding and carrying ourselves everyday in Love?
.
.
Dads, especially those who live in Tennessee, I’m hosting overnight retreats as I’m looking to build a community of what I’m calling “Distracted Fathers Seeking Intentional Lives”
.
If you find yourself easily angered and day to day, just tired and warn out of the wash-rinse-repeat of life, then I’d love to have you join us!

This post is about maintaining the garden of your life. Not so much about the weeds in your yard.
.
When you see weeds pop up in life, are you getting to the root? For me, I didn’t realize that the roots were so deep!
.
Have you ever found yourself saying, “Why does this keep happening to me?”
.
Or
.
“What’s wrong with me?”
.
Or
.
“When will I ever change??”
.
That was me for a good portion of my life actually. Not understanding why I keep finding myself in the same patterns, not being able to break them.
.
Daily drinking was a big one for me.
.
I am now 529 days without a drink and it actually happened SUDDENLY.
.
Do me a favor, if you’re here because you feel like you’re a distracted father and want to be more intentional with your life, hit the follow button.
.
My name is Dusty and I currently have two kiddos and a wife of 16 years. I almost lost it all and so I’m here to talk about getting to the root of the weeds that keep popping up in your garden.
.
I’m glad you’re here and I always invite people to reach out in the DMs, I’m happy to pray with you and for you.
.
Sometimes the roots go deep and on the surface, the weed looks like it’s gone, but unless you get to the very depths, another weed may pop up again in the same spot, and sometimes worse than the first.
.
The next time it shows itself it may have massive thorns and defenses to “stick around.”
.
Let’s pull some weeds together and be more intentional with our lives!
.
You got this!

Have you noticed changes in people you love who use a VR headset?
VR is a ton of fun but did you know that it also comes with costly side effects for many?
Physical Side Effects:
• Nausea and motion sickness.
• Eye strain and fatigue.
• Spatial disorientation.
Cognitive and Psychological Side Effects:
• Desensitization to real-life events. Violent and
lust-based content.
• Confusion between virtual and real-life.
Depression:
• Isolation: VR can lead to social isolation, potentially exacerbating depression.
• Escapism: Excessive use may neglect underlying issues contributing to depression.
Addiction:
• Compulsive use: The immersive nature of VR can lead to addiction, with users prioritizing VR over real-life responsibilities.
• Withdrawal symptoms: Similar to other addictions, users might experience irritability, anxiety, or mood swings when not using VR.
Recommendations:
• Use VR in moderation.
• Maintain awareness of the risks and symptoms of overuse.
• Encourage real-life social interactions and activities.
• Seek professional guidance if VR contributes to depression or addictive behaviors.
• Promote an environment that avoids isolation. Only use in a public room while streaming content to a television for others to see.
Research into VR’s long-term effects is ongoing. Individual experiences vary based on content, use duration, and personal predispositions.
I’m here to talk about it. I chose to go down a path that was never meant for me in VR. It almost took over reality completely as I kept wanting to escape back the virtual worlds that were more vibrant, surreal, peaceful, and exciting.
VR can be a great tool for many when the right precautions and safety measures are in place.

Dads, do you constantly battle the distractions of every day life?
“Can you play daddy?” ….
“In a minute…”
“Maybe later…”
Or worse… like me, working from home, homeschooling, and all the pressures and distractions built up to point of losing patience with the question…
… as suspected though, the ask started to stop. I was so distracted and continually put everything else first that I had no time to play until I looked up and said YES.
I’ll never forget the day I brought our daughter home from the homeschool enrichment and she said, “I’m gonna be in the talent show daddy!”
I was just getting ready to start a project on my laptop into the early evening when she told me the news.
I paused and said, “That’s amazing! What would you like to do?”
Fear came over her face as she said, “I don’t know but I told my friends I would be in it.”
I smiled at her.
I said, “Okay, well you like to sing and dance… is that something you would like to do?”
She smiled. But fear once again came over her face.
“Maybe I can do it with a friend?”
I replied, “Good idea, when is it?”
“2 weeks…”
Ooph, I knew it was going to be extremely hard to coordinate something with a friend and bring it to life in time and in that moment an idea popped up. 🕊️
“What if you and I did something together?”
The smile and shock on this girl’s face could have lit up an entire lighthouse.
“Would they let us?”
I replied, “I’m not sure but we can find out, and in the meantime we need to figure out what we should do.”
I shifted gears and pushed work to the side, for the first time in a LONG TIME, it may have even been the first time ever, I made work wait for my family.
Wow. It was liberating.
I was remembering a play I saw at a kids camp where the dancers dramatized the lyrics of the song and it moved me to tears. I came from a background of hip hop and so
This legendary marshmallow roasting recipe is much like the epic tales of parenting and outdoor adventures.
This wasn’t your average roasting; it was a saga of burning, peeling, and roasting to perfection, a dance with fire mirroring the unpredictable nature of a day spent with kids under the open sky.
Step 1: The Gathering - Imagine corralling marshmallows like herding cats or, more aptly, toddlers. Each one, a fluffy ball of potential chaos.
Step 2: The Spear - Arm yourself with a stick, akin to packing a survival kit for a day out with the kids. This stick, your lifeline, may betray you, dropping your marshmallow into the abyss at the worst moment.
Step 3: The Roast - Approach the fire with a mix of dread and excitement, much like a family outing. Find the golden middle where the marshmallow browns, not unlike that rare, perfect day outdoors.
Step 4: The Burn - Let the marshmallow catch fire, embracing the chaos, a nod to the sudden shifts from tranquility to pandemonium on family adventures.
Step 5: The Peel - Peel the charred exterior, a task as oddly satisfying as finding a moment’s peace after a hectic day. Beneath lies a gooey heart ready for a second chance.
Step 6: The Second Roast - Return to the fire, this marshmallow now a symbol of resilience, much like a family strengthened by the trials of outdoor escapades.
The marshmallow, much like a family after a day in nature, emerges a little worse for wear but infinitely sweeter for the experience. It’s in the burnt, chaotic moments that the sweetest memories are made, a testament to the beauty of imperfection and resilience.

Speak Life. Give Life. Drinking clean water is LIFE. Thanks @lifestraw for keeping the pack lite and the fresh water available everywhere we go as we pursue everything God is doing in our lives.
🚨 It’s not easy to talk about but it has to happen. VR almost ruined my marriage, I allowed the content within VR to become more valuable than my relationships in reality.
.
Yes, zombies and fear based content is very easy to access in VR but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
.
I believe that we were created in His image. We were not made to consume fear and torment our spirits and soul.
.
1 John 4:14
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
v15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
v16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
v17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world.
v18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
v19 We love Him, because He first loved us.
But as mentioned above the dangers within Virtual Reality are far greater than fear based content.
Just as easy to obtain is the category of lust based content. This is where I want to sound the alarm. ‼️
*VR P0rm* Spiraling out of control across families in the world. It’s not just the men and boys consuming it either, search the statistics, this is a rising problem among men and women. Over 74% of all VR headset owners have experienced this adult content.
So here it is against popular opinion: VR a trap. ‼️
Isolation to feed you whatever you want, whenever you want. Not just adult content, anything. Levels of dopamine higher than some of the most addictive drugs.
The VR P0rm industry in 2023 was already valued at $1.54B… it’s expected to be $124B by 2030.
🚨 John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and ha
