I had a blast competing in the 7 Species Slam this year! This last-minute 15” crappie I caught on a Spade Blade kept me in the top 6 by a mere 1/4”! I feel very satisfied with taking 6th in this tournament, especially since I caught every fish I entered within 30 miles of my house except the cisco, which I caught on Lake Superior. That just proves that we have one of the best places to ice fish in the country right out our back door! The winners put together some unbelievable numbers, especially who topped 150 inches of fish in this tournament and who fishes another rural small-lake area in Minnesota that produces some unbelievable fish. Congrats to you guys and good luck in the next one!

Before and after… Even though I use Predator tip ups a ton all winter, I still like a good, old fashioned standard tip up for those really cold, nasty days where keeping your hole ice free can be a real pain. With a standard tip up you can pretty much set it and forget it, especially if you have a hole cover and even more sore your watching them for you!
